The likelyhood of high rating prime time tennis is getting slimmer.

Murray came on court about 4.45pm I think on BBC2, then moved to BBC1 from 5.15pm, and will then move back to BBC2 at 6pm.

By 7pm I expect the match will be almost over.
That first set was extremely close, so I wouldn't be so sure. If it was to go to 5 sets and continue to be as close it could plausibly still be going as late as half 8, maybe even 9.

for the record I have no problem, even encourage some form of Product Placement logo, before the show starts.

Only problem is international shows, could the BBC have to use it? In theory Heroes would certainly have needed one.

Are those numbers for Glastonbury coverage good or bad?
I'd say the 'Final Night' coverage on BBC Two did pretty well. It's difficult to make a judgement on the raw numbers because of the long running time and late hours - but a 9.4% share is nice and strong for the channel. Glastonbury isn't a huge event in ratings terms, but it must reach a good number of people.

ETA: Sue Barker just said Murray will be on Two "thoughout the evening". BBC seem to be a lot more cautious interrupting schedules with tennis this year. To be fair, this one would need to be a classic to run long enough on BBC One, and it doesn't look that was at the moment.

I think they are covering their backs. Now that most of the country have had the digital switchover, Sky, Virgin and Freeview don't have regional varients on BBC Two, Some were upset this time last year when the news was moved to BBC Two and had to switch to analogue to see the local news.

Thanks for the Hollyoaks analysis Dancc. I was really interested myself in how big a decline the show has suffered, but I never took the time to work it out. That really is a dramatic sharp drop, but I can't say I'm surprised. Once Bryan Kirkwood left, his shoes were huge to fill. I think the show has quite a fickle audience, who only watched the BK era because of certain characters e.g. John Paul and Craig, Hannah, Clare etc. The show has lost a lot of good characters over the past couple of years and I think its ratings have suffered as a result, as Lucy Allan wasn't good enough in developing suitable characters to replace them with and so the 36% of the 2008 audience turned off.

I do have a soft spot for Hollyoaks though, so I really hope it pulls out of its decline. I'm confident Paul Marquess will bring back some viewers and introduce new viewers to HO, but it's all about holding onto them even when certain characters leave and certain storylines finish.

At the end of Part 9, I noticed Piers Morgan making jibes at Chatty Man. What he doesn't seem to understand is that the low audience who bother to tune into his show aren't even interested in him, but are only interested in his guests. The audience for Chatty Man like Alan Carr, who is a much warmer, funnier and nicer person.

I can't stand Piers. I'm over the moon he's leaving BGT. Let's hope he jets off to America and stays there.

Yep, I like this approach. Even though there's not much of schedule on BBC One tonight, I'd be happy for the tennis to stay on BBC Two, where the fans would expect to find it.

It's all very well there being millions of extra viewers on BBC One on past second Mondays, but how many of those were just there in frustration, waiting for EastEnders or Criminal Justice or whatever?

And how many hundreds or thousands of genuine tennis fans have been left scratching their heads wondering why there's EastEnders or a Coast repeat on BBC Two, when all they wanted was to watch a bit of tennis after a day at work/uni/school?

Just been reading on DS that The Sarah Jane Adventures titles have been revealed. Now, I hope BBC consider airing this at 5:35pm on BBC1 - I do remember reading they were moving Weakest Link, so hopefully the CBBC strand will be moved back to accomodate it later this year.

No doubt the BBC bashers would be out in force with sport taking over the schedules

I think it was the BBC Trust who, last year, noted a decline in audiences for CBBC on BBC One since Weakest Link came over to replace Neighbours, and, in response, the BBC said they would monitor the situation for a couple more years, then think about bringing CBBC on BBC One back to a 5.30pm end if things didn't improve.

Then a DS Broadcasting Forum myth sprang up with CBBC on One imminently getting a 6pm finish.

Found a link:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pre...hildrens.shtml
Continued monitoring of the CBBC block of programmes on BBC One together with a development of a daytime show that could play for half an hour at 5.30pm weekdays. If one is found and is successful, over the next two years the BBC will consider reinstating Blue Peter and Newsround to their original times. In the interim, the CBBC block of programmes on BBC One will stay put and play out between 3.05pm and end at 5.15pm.

Murray's won - no need for any switch to BBC1.

Does anyone know how many people watch LK Today? Just curious as she does have a large online fan club.

Absolutley the right decision tonight - the regional newsblock must take priority over a 4th round game. The Saturday decision is still baffling thou...

I remember only a few years ago, in the Christmas/New Years eve episodes of Hollyoaks in 2006 with the Claire/Max thing and when she kidnapped Tom, it was hitting around 3.3m at those times, it was up from the 2.5m it was getting at the rest of 2006, but the Claire storyline made it go to up to 3m+... and then in the last year it has really dropped rapidly

What i have found out that the episodes that Claire comes back in the show, ratings go up again, she seemed to have been the shows saving grace.

Now Im sort of a fan of Hollyaoks, less of a fan now, but to know that it hasnt been axed, and how most shows on C4 havnt been axed when BB in the officials (in this series) is getting 3m+. I completely understand that BB needs to finish now but they seem to be dragging out loads of C4 shows longer, like they did with Brookside.

people can hate on Big Brother and say anything, it has been on for 10 years and if you look at the BARB vieweing figures it takes up the Top 7 slots of the week. So basically its similar to ITV's "Britains Got Talent" and "X Factor".

Does anybody know how Peckham Finishing School has been rating on BBC3? It's quite an enjoyable show so I'm curious over how well it's doing.

The only way to guarantee a BBC1 audience, if thats what everyone involved wants, would be to schedule a night match. This is very possible now they have the roof in place. However it would break the traditions of Wimbledon I guess. Im all for keeping traditions.

Yep I read about that. Its a ridiculous slot. Is there supposed to be major competition on that night? Because to my recollection TWC would be finished by then.

Thread always dies down when it moves to a new part until people realise the reason their subscription isn't updating is because we've moved on!

Back to the World Cup and I wonder how many viewers the afternoon kick-offs have lost out on by being at 3pm rather than say 4pm. I reckon some of those games rating around 2.5m would probably be over 3m if the kick-offs had been an hour later. which they could have been really.

Also questionable whether the scheduling of the quarter-finals is the best, having a two day break and then two games in two days. There is no reason really why the teams who qualified from Sat/Sun couldn't play on Wed/Thu. On the global scale I guess with the time differences only Asia might lose out by not having kick-offs around 3pm our time.

ITV showing the Friday Quarter finals: Brazil vs. Netherlands, Ghana vs. Uruguay

BBC showing the Saturday Quarter finals: Argentina vs. Germany, Spain/Portugal vs. Japan/Paraguay.

In terms of appealing matches, Brazil v Netherlands is better than the Saturday evening one, but I suppose the BBC wanted to have one primetime game.

BBC showing the Saturday Quarter finals.
So 1 Emmerdale and 2 Coronation Street off the schedule again.

Maybe ITV will show the backlog of episodes on Saturday evening?

EDIT: ITV could dump Homes from Hell and Tonight from Thursday's schedule, but I'm not too envious of the idea of having 3 hours of soap back-to-back.
