Your theory is dependent on the tweet percentage. So, if there was a major world event happening the number of tweets would increase hugely where as BB11 tweets would be a lower percentage but not necessarily a lower number of viewers. Likewise if the twitter world was very quiet bar BB11 tweets then the percerage would be higher due to a low number from other tweets but it would just be the usual number of BB11 tweets. I hope that makes sense

Hey this is one concept that worked for nearly 20 years anf then maybe the Yanks gave up on them. Although there was some dross, there were some fantastic ones like George C Scott as Mussolini, North and South, Rich Man Poor Man and Salem's Lot. All of them were ratings grabbers and covered subjects as diverse as a former dictator and Hollywood wives. I'm sure America could supply these types of shows again.

I was exaggerating slightly when I said they didn't get a look-in. Just feels like they are giving Shabby special treatment.

Walkers and ejectees are always on BBLB. In theory, they should just leave them to it once they're kicked out, but in reality a spin off ignoring housemates who have left or kicked out would just be silly. I'm sure a lot of people tune in to see them.

The circumstances usually define whether they appear or not, and of course its up to the specific housemate. The first few in BB7 didn't appear for a number of reasons.

Interesting that, according to my own research, ITV3 is on course to overtake ITV2 as the highest rated digital only channel in the UK within the next year or two.

For the first 5 months of this year, ITV2 had an average audience share of 2.28%. This was down 6.6% on the same period in 2009. ITV3 meanwhile had an average audience share of 2.16%. This was up 18.7% on last year. These shares incorporate +1 timeshifts for both.

Separately I noted that BBC Three was up 9.7% on the equivalent period last year.

ITV2 probably down because BGT repeats were less watched and BGMT lost viewers

Thanks for that Dan. Shows that viewers are preferring classic ITV programming from when the broadcaster was respected for its excellent programming rather than the cheap, reality, factual and celebrity fuelled shows that you find on ITV2.

In comparison to 2008, ITV2's audience slide has been much less dramatic, only down 0.9%.

ITV3 meanwhile sees a more notable rise if you compare with 2008 data, up 35%.

I'm inclined to agree with that too. ITV3 is the far superior channel if you ask me. I've loved rewatching Wire in The Blood and Taggart episodes on ITV3.

Agree about the high-profile celebrities, and also agree with increasing it slightly, i.e. finishing it on a Sunday rather than a Friday (straight after an X Factor Results Show, depending on timing, probably the semis).

Totally different audiences for ITV2 & 3. They arent competing with each other at all.

EastEnders did well last night - topping the day. Looks like the increased competition at 9pm squeezed Crimewatch out, as that can usually bank about 4m most of the time. Slightly low rating for University Challenge if you ask me, bearing in mind that the last series was hovering around 3m. Also after such a good start, Rev losing nearly 30% of its audience in a week might be of slight concern to the BBC.

Solid enough for ITV1's soaps, and good start for Identity - an identical rating to Luther's first episode. However they'll be hoping it doesn't take a similar ratings dive to that. I think it'll fall below 5m next week but if it can hold 4.5-5.0m across the rest of the episodes, I think ITV will be quite happy with that especially since their record with "summer dramas" is poor. Big Brother did well in its early slot and actually rated better than the last two Monday episodes, which I find surprising. Sex Education Show made best use of its lead-in and did better than I expected because iirc the last series was rating in the low 2's. Five not up to much last night.

Not too shabby for Big Brother (no pun intended) to be fair. Expected 3m+ for The Sex Education Show though.

University Challenge got 2.5 in officials for same week last year, the numbers grow as it gets towards the finals.

Not bad for BB at all.
It was up on last weeks Monday even though yesterday it was up against 2 of the soaps which recieved 8m+.

Tonight we should be looking at around 2.6m for the 10pm slot maybe.
