Using the power of the mind I've calculacted thus far after 28 days BB has an average viewer rating of......2.95 million.
3.4m Week 1 2.8m Week 2 2.7m Week 3 2.9m Week 4 If you throw in Friday's second show I get an average 2.91m. |

Whilst there is still talk about movies. Does anyone know which companies have deals with which channels. E.g. Universal mostly on ITV, Disney mostly with BBC or Five, etc.
ITV - Universal, Warner Bros plus rights to James Bond, Harry Potter and Star Wars Channel 4 - 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Entertainment Films, Pathe Five - Sony Pictures, Lionsgate, Warner Bros, Disney. Twilight is distributed by E1 Entertainment so I'm not sure which broadcaster owns the terrestrial rights. |

There is obviously a directive at ITV to sign up anyone who is anyone in entertainment. The BBC now have just Graham Norton who can realistically front a shiny floor style entertainment show and well though he can do live tv, is more suited to risque late night slots. This is one of the low points in BBC L/E history imo.
Christine Bleakley has done very little light entertainment so there's only really Ant and Dec and Paul O'Grady. Vernon Kay and Dermot O'Leary are no different to Steve Jones who the Beeb seem (somewhat inexplicably) interested in. Then the Beeb have been able to use people from other spheres to front their LE, like Richard Hammond with Total Wipeout or my future wife Claudia Winkleman on Let's Dance, and they'll probably use Jason Manford for more stuff, and there are people like Michael McIntyre or John Bishop. And of course because ITV have given up on kids shows, regional shows and comedy shows there's nowhere where new talent can be nurtured, unlike on the Beeb. And there's Brucie, of course. |

What about Tess Daley? Is SCD the only thing she does? I very rarely see her present anything else. Is she exclusive to the Beeb?
Edit: Lots of questions there, sorry. |

Not a huge favourite of mine, his humour was too juvenile at times as was shown when he fronted the Dads Army anniversary show.
However he was on the BBC on the basis of the fact that he could be edgy and unpredictable, and lo and behold he was undone by being just that. Lo and more behold he is going to be doing the same stuff just two digits down the remote. There is a danger that the BBC will not just be priced out of the market, but denied on grounds of suitability too. And no, ITV is not signing every last shiny floor presenter and storing them in a cellar under the Thames. Ross was crap at shiny floor shows as you mention with reference to the Dads Army tribute. Ross is NOT on an exclusive deal with anyone and can still present for the BBC. People like Chris Tarrant are not on exclusive ITV deals either. If you want shiny floor presenters they have Tess Daly, Nick Knowles, Dale Winton, Bruce Forysth for starters. They have some Evans guy too, although he seems to be the main cause of people moving to ITV, so maybe they should be careful where they deploy their ginger Scud.... |

Huge rating for the match there!!
And again, another very decent performance from BB in the deathly 8pm slot to stay above 2m against the match too. Sex Ed doing very well too. Weird to think everything got trounced by the match except for C4, really says something. |

Amazing rating for the football. Everyone knew this match would rate higher than the first semi and both are considerably up on what everyone predicted, and I'm pretty sure they are up on the 2006 semis. There seemed to be a slight dip after England went out and matches clashed with Wimbledon, but the ratings seem back up again. The 3rd place play off should perform decently on ITV and the final will probably rate 11m+ on BBC1.
Elsewhere CH4 held up very well and The Sex Ed show is proving very resiliant to tough competition. I'm surprised-I thought there would have been a large crossover audience between it and the football. Midsomer repeat performing similarly to New Tricks and ITV probably held up much better than they would have done if BBC1 had scheduled the Tuesday match. Decent finish for DH-the last few episodes seemed to have picked up ratings wise with stronger lead ins and the E4 showings are around 1m in officials. NCIS finale did as well as could be expected. TImeshifts have been strong this series and it has boosted Wednesdays considerably, but I still think it belongs on Fridays. |

Due to WDYTYA on Mondays, Five have shifted The Hotel Inspector to Thursdays which seems like a better idea as the competition on that day is weak with the exception of Undercover Boss on Channell 4 but it could get affected by football. |

Also, looks like a new series of Ladette To Lady Australia is starting on Tuesday 20th July on ITV1 at 10:35pm. I believe they ran this at 9pm last year and it got about 3m so it should do better than ITV1 usually do in that slot. Also, a new series of Would I Lie To You is starting in Jonathan Ross' Friday slot on July 23rd. |

Fantastic rating for the World Cup Semi Final, stunning in fact when you consider the amount of post-match talk and the fact it would probably get a place in the current Top 10 of the year chart. It's up 0.6m compared to the semi final the BBC aired in 2006, and I'd imagine the final will get about 11.5m on BBC1 with about 2.5m on ITV1. The ratings for this World Cup has proved why all the WC Finals matches should remain in the Crown Jewels list.
ITV1 did okay with the Midsomer Murders repeat - quite similar to how New Tricks rated the other day. The Lakes was half a million lower than I expected however. Big Brother got its lowest weeknight rating of the series yesterday, but to be honest it had such a difficult slot. I bet Channel 4 are delighted by the ratings Sex Education Show are getting - ratings seem to be up at least half a million compared to the last series. A little rise for the DP finale but to be expected as I saw quite a lot of promotion for it by C4. NCIS did okay given the circumstances, but this series has seen quite a big fall (in the overnights) compared to the last one which generally got 2m+ iirc. |

Good to see Taggart is coming back with some new episodes. Let's hope ITV don't mess it about and keep it in a consistent 9pm slot. I don't understand why they'd want to burn it off - has it been axed? I think it was axed at one point, but then they changed their minds and recommissioned it for this new series.
I can't see ITV advertising it too much, same as Heartbeat but I think both shows will still do pretty well, getting 4-6m each. |

I think Five will swap NCIS with The Mentalist next year although The Mentalist has done well on Fridays and was consistenly their top rated shows dented only by football and heavier competition.
Due to WDYTYA on Mondays, Five have shifted The Hotel Inspector to Thursdays which seems like a better idea as the competition on that day is weak with the exception of Undercover Boss on Channell 4 but it could get affected by football. FIVE will be hoping HI repeats the success of the last series with 2m+ ratings. Quote:

Also interesting to see instead of moving Don't Stop Believing back half an hour they're moved it forward half an hour. Not sure whether this is good or bad-obviously to get a head start on Corrie, but if it's a warm day it will get slaughtered. I hope it does well. |
