I guess with Katie Price leaving ITV, ITV will have some free money, which explains the use for Corden to become the new flagship star of ITV2 perhaps?? But the money that is being reported is simply too much for a channel struggling for money for original programming, especially dramas. Corden's £6m is surely the equivalent of 2 new 6 part dramas?!

Hmm where i live (Surrey) it was boiling all round. I just hate it when people would slag off BB and the ratings are backing up the fact that BB is at its end. But i just want it to do well, thats why i try positive to hope that it goes up (its capable of getting a 3m official average as officials have claimed) like Sundays 2.5m was good, Im just hoping more tune in tonight than last night.
I know ratings dont really matter at this point but it gives haters (as there are laod sof them) more chance to slag off BB.
IMO Ben is capable of being one of the most classic HMs of all time... as all the people on the forums agree, its great for core audience, but with no media coverage its not shocking really.
Plus side it only lost out to BBC1 last night.

It also lost out to BBC Two for the first half-an-hour. It would certainly have beaten Newsnight in the second.

On another note, James Corden isnt doing too well despite the promotion he gets and the fact it is a World Cup related show. BB did beat his share. I just dont like JC at all...

Ben is just a poor mans version of Derek from BB6. As Dancc said we've seen it all before.
I also don't think there will be a 3m official average this year- the first week traditionally rates higher (since BB8) than any subsequent weeks fall lower. The ratings were up and down in week 1, but so far since Thursday they're just going down in comparison to the previous week.

True, its the week 2-3 drop we see, befor emid series it rises a bit, hoping this will happen.
As long as it gets higher than BB10. We just dont want to go out being rated the worst BB series on the last series
The first full week has an official of 3.3m, officials are adding generally 450,000 this year... which would bring every rating we have had well above BB10s officials.I disagree about your view on Ben completely, he has the entertainment and wit of all of them put together. Derek was nasty and vile from the things he said, Ben is pretty much unoffensive. He has the making of a great housemate and defenitley needs to get to the final.

Its a huge amount if its true, though ITV's policy appears to be to sign anything that moves at the moment. Apart from Gavin and Stacey, Corden's laddish cuddly fat bloke routine does seem to be rather limited. Does anyone know if the BBC actually bids for anything outside of Disney/Miramax/Touchstone/Dreamworks? I know there was that seemingly one-off Warner deal which bought Superman Returns-presumably ITV werent bothered as that didnt include a Potter.
I can remember years ago, film deals would be announced with bells and whistles but quite obviously the endless press scrutiny means the Beeb keep things very close these days.

true enough, but there is still the matter of positive feedback, cant hurt to have some of that going into the Autumn.

I don't believe a word of this, because why would Corden want to sign it? First and foremost he's an actor, and I'm sure he considers that his day job - but what would this contract entail? Just presenting, which seems a bit of a waste? Or will they give him umpteen crap dramas like Nick Berry? That's unlikely given they seem disinclined to make any drama at the moment.

Well compared to last year it's 100 times better. Ratings don't matter this year really as the axe has already fallen - but basically the damage was done last year and once people get out of the BB habit, it's very difficult to lure them back. Since BB3 only BB5 and BB7 have seen an increase in ratings on the previous year, and they were pretty small increases too.
If anything though BB11's biggest problem is it could go a similar route to BB9 with very one-sided evictions seeing the entertaining big characters leave week after week, leaving a group of dullards in at the end.

Even though he's been working behind the scenes on episodes which have been airing for at least three months, it's still not going to be until about October his revamp is complete and all the axed characters are gone and all his new characters are in place. So summer is pretty much a write off, it's autumn where we need to see the figures growing. (We were saying the same thing last year though!)

i think they got a film package from Fox as they showed Daredevil and Down with Love but the Disney and Dreamworks do work out as they are ratings pullers at Christmas. I do wonder whether Transformers will be shown at Christmas as it was a Paramount/Dreamworks film.
Universal has been ITV1's main film supplier for a good number of years and it's not only new films that is attractive but the back catalogue with films like Jurassic Park, ET etc

Well chances are it is rubbish, but if it was true then I reckon Corden might just put is artistic leanings aside if it meant getting his hands on 6 million quid.

Yes Christmas does seem to be the only active film time at Beeb these days. Perhaps not surprising as film value is not what it was. ITV have premiered many big films in that daft split around the news style that have struggled to get 3 million.
