Are ITV still planning that golden handcuffs deal for him?
Considering it was mentioned once in one paper and hasn't been mentioned since, I'd imagine no.

So beaten by BB on a Saturdau (worst rated day of the week) which should get around 2.1m with +1.... brilliant

I did know that after England were knocked out that his show would fall, but i never expected it to go sub 2.5m, never mind sub 2m.
I'm not surprised, this programme has been a disaster from start to finish and Simon Cowell, WTF, you knew he was just appearing to big up TXF. Hurrah to Big Brother for beating it.

Agree. Also, even after it aired the England matches it didnt do that well, well of course it did well for its slot or whatever but following a huge footie lead in, you would expect 6.5m+ or something at least, but even after the matches which were getting peaks of 20m, the show was going under mid 4m.

As you would usually tell us, the demographics will be good as it is an audience they don't usually have on ITV.

I can't imagine anything else airing at 9.30 that wouldn't have just been a pointless repeats or filler. At least they commissioned something special for the occasion.

Hardly a fair comparison to say it was beaten by BB by including (as yet uncomfirmed) +1 ratings whilst excluding the HD viewers for ITV HD.

True, but a big deal a C4 show beating a ITV footie related show in the same slot.

I'm a massive BB fan but to say that would be lying. BB did not beat an ITV footie show in the same slot.

BB's ratings are on the up, that should be enough to give the series praise. We don't need to use inaccurate spin to make it look better than it is.

Exactly Jonny.

Other news - BBC to be fairly unimaginative and give Tess Daly The One Show, according to The Mirror.

They should bring somebody in from outside the beeb to replace Bleakley, someone new. I find Daly's presenting quite wooden, then again, so is Bleakley.

They should have got someone else so theres a bit more publicity around it. Tess works primarily for the BBC so its not really going to be a high profile move. I'm sure she'll do a good job though. Contrary to TV executives beliefs, Christine is very easily replaceable.

Will Tess be doing Monday-Thursday or Monday-Friday?

The weren't at the same time though, Corden didn't start unitl 10pm, which explains the lower rating as there was a lot of post-match analysis.

Tess Daly for The One Show?

No exact month given, just 'Autumn', although I'm hoping that means September when all the new programming kicks off. I know the EastEnders fire, which is meant to pave the way for its move into HD, is in late August...

Would have made more sense to wait for the launch of BBC1 HD really - though I guess there isn't much around at that time competing for a slot on BBC HD.

Corden was scheduled to start at 21:30 though: http://uk-tv-guide.com/list/ITV1+Central/10+July+2010/

MattJ noted it started at 21:40 to the nearest 5 minutes, so it probably started at approx. 21:38.

Good grief, could this be one of the lowest rated primetime World Cup finals? Awful, awful game.
