I don't think Fridays at 10.30pm has ever been an option for ITV.

It'll be on a Saturday night after X Factor. ITV barely have enough money in the budget to make programmes in primetime, without opening up new slots like late night Fridays.

I think its a great deal for them. Jonathan gets 3-3.5m, with a lot of young viewers in a pretty poorly accessibly slot. With promos during X Factor and a lead-in, he will surely get even more viewers - but even if he still gets the regular 3m, it should still make ITV a lot of money.

They seem very confident - giving him 18 episodes - which is essentially what he did on BBC1 from September - December. I wonder if there might be an option to add another 18 or so from the start of 2012, of if the plan is to do 18 episode every year in the Autumn?

I would assume that even if he keeps some sort of relationship with ITV, Piers won't keep doing 12 episodes a year of Life Stories once he goes to CNN? So the Saturday night post-X Factor slot would make sense for JR starting from 2011.

Saturday at 9pm after X-Factor would be a good slot I suppose. The start time might end up changing every week though, which would be annoying.
Maybe they could offer a repeat of his show at Friday 10:35pm for old time viewers.

I'm looking forward to DCI Banks and I think ITV could have a potential hit on their hand, I think it should be scheduled either Sunday/Monday or Monday over two weeks, there is 19 DCI Banks books with a twentieth being released soon so if ITV1 do commision a full series, they have plenty of source material although I wonder if it'll be a full series like Lewis or one-offs like Above Suspicion, I'm guessing the former.

It's a shame Vera isn't debuting until 2011 but the fact that ITV1 commisioned a further three episodes after seeing the pilot is a vote of confidence.

As a fan of crime fiction and dramas, there's a lot to look forward to, BBC One are doing Aurelio Zen, Sky1 are doing DI Thorne as well as the two above on ITV1.

There is a few crime novel series that have the potential to become TV series as well as some old ones that could be revived in the same way that Poirot and Miss Marple were like the Adam Dalgliesh novels, ITV did a series as did BBC One but I think it could easily be rebooted with a new lead readapting some of the older books as well as the ones that haven't been adapted for television.

Yeah the ITV deal described in the press said he would still be doing 12 episodes of Life Stories per year, so if Jonathan Ross gets the Saturday slot (likely) it'll just have to find a new slot. I read yesterday his CNN contract is for him to do 30 weeks a year, so there's still time for him to do AGT, Life Stories and the travel shows.

Because its more competition for Identity? Why didn't they put Coast on Tuesday with Dragons Den staying on Wednesday?


Ah, so they've gone back to two shows. Well they've well and truly lost the 8pm slot on Sundays to The X Factor, so it'd have to air at 7pm, surely?

He's right though, SYTYCD is far too short to capture any wide interest. If its going to be a huge reality show then it has to be lengthened and the budget has to go up a lot. But the reasoning behind it is probably more to do with the Australian version being axed and the American one on its way out.

Dancing on Ice is on its way out too, there is a big market for a dance show at that time of year (albeit the 2 target different audiences but there will be a lot of crossover audience) so it would be a good way to 'capitalise' on that.

Compare it to the couple of years before that. It was down by quite a bit. Obviously there will still be a few more series left in it but unless it gets revamped then there is only one way the ratings are going. This years series was dented by Celebrity Big Brother which speaks volumes.

Another good night for Channel 4, they appear to be on a roll at the moment! ITV had a very good night with solid soap ratings and Midsomer performed as expected.

BBC1 did alright, but The Silence appears to have dipped a little. Should win its slot tonight though. Waterloo Road did alright as well. Dragon's Den did very well finally for BBC2.

And we are back to normal ratings for BB, phew
That is the highest non eviction rating (as Fridays first show got 2.64m) since Shabby's exit. C4 having the best week in ages with Brucie as well.

The Silence, is that a further drop, yes? But its not a huge drop that most drama's acchieve. Waterloo Road back on average despite being away for weeks

Brilliant for Dragon's Den

Another excellent night for Channel 4. Another night where something other than Big Brother is the most watched show.

I get the feeling those forecasting the death of C4 next summer might be bitterly disappointed.

Five had a very respectable night as well considering everything from 7.30 onwards right through to 11.00 was a repeat. NCIS always repeats very well though- they should use it a bit more often.

C4 are doing very well lately, maybe they won't be doing so badly post-BB after all. Good to see Hollyoaks up too.

Decent night for BBC1. Waterloo Road returned to what it was getting before and managed to win its slot. Tonight will be interesting with WR V Corrie V CDWM. The Silence continues to shed viewers slightly, but that's expected with stripped dramas.

Very good for ITV1. Emmerdale's highest audience of the week with a great share aswell. I reckon TOS has lost around 0.5m of its Adrian/Christine supporters and Emmerdale has gained these, just looking by what we've seen on Mon/Wed. Also yet again more proof that Corrie should never have been moved from Wednesdays.

Another 2m+ day for CH4 which is great. Hollyoaks also seems to be around 1.3m for many of its episodes lately, which is an improvement.

Strong rating for Battle of Britain on FIVE. Just shows if they show a decent new factual programme on Wednesdays people will watch it. ~1m for the crime drama repeats is good aswell.

Yeah, perhaps it was new to terrestrial. Because it's very rare FIVE would get a rating like 1.4m for a repeat of a factual programme like that. It would normally be sub 1m.

Either way, they will be well pleased that a programme that is 6 years old delivered such a strong audience.

I have a feeling this could be a great couple of weeks for the channel.
