He may be a lot of things, but he's not stupid. The Europa League can be Five's biggest rating asset.

Five News is also counted as news, the programme that makes GMTV look like Newsnight.

Both produced by Sky News.

DSB had a valiant debut but it'll drop and flop.

See if it still gets 6m when BBC1 are airing Countryfile or Antiques Roadshow against it.

See if it still gets 6m when it has to stand on it's own two feet without a Coronation Street lead in.

I also find it funny that people are suddenly blasting ITV for axing Heartbeat, these will be the same people who criticise ITV for showing 'rubbish like Heartbeat'. I've never heard so much praise for Heartbeat in this thread before.

Meanwhile on Five, a very unimpressive rating for their new show, considering all the hype. Five has been on air since 1997 so 1.5m is hardly a success. I'm also surprised why it was bigged up so much on here as if it was the best thing since sliced bread.”

It beat Corrie though
so that says to me that it didn't need another old people's show on before it for it to do well

I had to laugh at Heartbeat's rating - there's no rational explanation for that!

I'm sure it will have cheered ITV chiefs, and Adrian "Mr Breakfast" Chiles, that a cheapo reliable old warhorse like Heartbeat can more than double ITV's Sunday night audience after a prohibitively expensive, deeply unfashionable, little-watched, advertiser-unfriendly, big TV turn-off such as an ITV Sport presentation of the World Cup Final.

They should have "launched" the "new" series of Heartbeat last Sunday methinks...

14.88m is a sensational BBC1/HD match average over 3 hours, simulcast with a rival channel, even if nobody was actually watching on that network apart from the 2.7m grannies waiting patiently for Corrie, Heartbeat or Sunday Night at the London Paladium to come on.

The actual match average should I think be higher than that because BARB has the "Post Match" down as starting at 22.23 which can't be right as they had finished the presentations and started the studio wrap-up by 10.05pm IIRC - the show went off air at 10.30pm.

Either way, it compares very well with the big numbers the England matches got for BBC1 and ITV. If only we had a decent team who could compete in tournaments, we could have seen some simply jaw-dropping ratings this summer. Ah well...

Anyone brave enough to have a stab at posting an updated Top 20 of 2010 yet?

The lesbian's storyline seems to have caused Coronation Street to trend on twitter tonight

In case anyone doesn't watch Corrie it's not Audrey and Rita involved.

"Ben Mitchell" is also trending.

But that is probably not a good thing considering people's views on his acting.

Lesbian's or lesbians'?

The latter sounds more interesting - may have to check out ITV Player if so...

In a similar vein, I caught a brief glimpse of EastEnders earlier and thought I'd stumbled across a gay porn channel. Or one of those ads that are the staple of ITV2 ad breaks after 11pm.

Suspect EE's ratings might be a bit down tonight as a result...

Yeah it's about him being Bullied in prison.

Libby Fox was also trending mind you EastEnders trends even when it's not on

Are you joking?
Those 2gays(syed and Chrisitan) are really popular
and their thread over in soaps is on like part 43 or some stupid number.

I think tommorows Hour-Long special could rate well

Regarding Five, could Matthew Wright just take The Wright Stuff format to BBC One? BBC Trust want BBC One to get rid of some of their morning shows, surely The Wright Stuff would be the perfect way to do that, it'd fulfill PSB commitments as well? i.e.

06:00 - Breakfast
09:15 - Heir Hunters etc..
10:00 - The Wright Stuff
11:15 - Homes Under the Hammer etc...
12:15 - Bargin Hunt etc...

Thoughts? (or would Five own the rights to the format and programme name?)

The way you've worded that makes it sound like you're sterotyping... "those 2 gays".

So Corrie had 2 lesbians, and EE had 2 gays, but which is better? there's only one way to find out...

the BBC may have to give it a new name, and offically a new format, but really it would be a good thing for the BBC, it would be a big help in solving the daytime TV problem.
