Sorry just to clarify - is that "is clearly a fix" or "clearly not"??

I am just wondering if we are all from the same ITV region? Although I am in Kent I use Granada for the better pic res. I have only been having this since I changed my region.

I notice that some of you are also in the NW? Is this a Granada region issue?

No, its screwing up on ITVHD/ITV London for me.

Disabling auto padding is not a fix for sport, as of now, there is now way to record an ET WC game on ITV (unless you also record an hour afterwards) which is a disgrace.

The region thing was a stab in the dark.

It does seem to be after the regionalisation of ITV1HD that things have gone to pot.

Luckily I have an Acer Revo attached to my TV which I use to stream from the web, so I can catch up that way. When ITV Player comes onto the box, wont even need to switch across to that.

Of course that isnt the point - we need this sorting.

Hopefully with other people emailing ITV with this issue it may get a higher status.

My box is missing recordings on ITV Ch103 and BBC1 as it has not recorded Holby or Casualty, both are set on series link, anyone else having issues with failed BBC recordings?

Holby been fine for me, July 2nd Casualty failed; it wasn't on because of the football.

Dan.

Thanks for the reply, wasn't aware that the football had replaced Casualty

Coronation Street has just started but my EPG banner thing says that Emmerdale is still on despite the fact it's 19:34

Ah, now it has changed but it hasn't started recording, despite the fact that the "Record" symbol" is bottom left in on the banner.

Countryfile started recording at 7pm no problem.

Coronation St failed for me again tonight. Just got in and saw the box was not recording, and the broken symbol in the media list. I'm going to complain to ITV and to the Coronation Street sponsors.

The second episode of Coronation Street hasn't recorded either for me despite the reminder showing in the EPG. I've got "Identity" set to record after this too.

The series "Identity" has started recording no problem. I set this recording from the ITV1 HD channel banner though, in case that makes a difference.

After many failed Corra's it recorded 3 times tonight!! Once at 7.30 and then two at 8.30, very strange. The double entry was recorded from ITV1 HD and ITV HD. No idea what's happening. Thankfully Identity has started to record.

When did you set the reservations for Corrie ?. Not sure what you mean by ITV-HD. unless you are refering to the EB1 red button service which you can't set a recording from if you have 119 on the epg.

Just a thought - is this only happened when it is recording two programmes one after the other, such as Emmerdale and Corrie?

Emmerdale FAILED for me again tonight on 119..despite me resetting..AND
juts before that i was offered a RE_TUNE for 2 new channels which i accepted thinking that that may solve the problem..
The length of time now since our first mutterings must mean a significant and complex problem exists somewhere..
It would be nice to know what it was.. even if no-one can fix it..and
I would have though that BobCat would have been on here instead of a Humax Admin reply to one input..denying it's Humax..

I don't think it's complex. It's just that ITV are useless. According to a friend they still haven't got subtitles on HD on any programmes. They are incredibly unprofessional so I don't think it's fair to blame Humax for the fact that ITV can't reliably perform a simple task that most other broadcatsers manage with little difficulty.

I take it this is just a Freesat/Humax problem? No problems with SKY + everything recorded fine over the last week even with late schedule changes on ITV HD 119.

None that I'm aware of but I'm pretty sure Sky's EPG doesn't have the concept of a 'start signal'. Everything records according to the time in the EPG plus whatever padding the user has selected. Basically Sky's system is too primitive to suffer this issue.

So the Sky system will work perfectly as long as the broadcaster actually communicates the change to the EPG but won't handle situations where a programme starts a couple of minutes late but that change wasn't uploaded to the EPG.

Whereas Freesat will, theoretically, handle the latter case but seems to suffer from:

1) Broadcasters that completely foul up the start and end signals to the extent that nothing gets recorded. (e.g. ITV Lewis/Midsomer Murders)

2) Broadcasters that send the start and end signals when the programme was scheduled to broadcast but actually show it a little earlier or later (e.g. C4 with Grand Designs).

So it would seem that the 'use fixed padding' scheme should be more reliable until (if ever) the broadcasters get their act together and transmit the correct start/stop signal.

Back to front last night. Emmerdale failed but I got both Corries!!!

The SKY EPG automatically adjusts too if the broadcaster updates their info. The BBC are often the best at this - can't say I've missed a recording if setting the box to AUTO not manually adding padding.

Today whilst the Humax Guide shows the World Cup on ITV and ITVHD..
as do Freview and Sky..
MY SCHEDULE shows that it will record 'Emmerdale' on both channels at 7.00PM..
Thus the Scheduler is not altered and we get 2 'Failed Recordings'.. tonight..
Hence at least part of the problem is that Humax cannot FLUSH it's... 'Ahead of the Times' ..Schedule..
and Fixing that is difficult..!

We don't mind failed recordings when it's not on, it's when it is on & we miss it that counts.
