May be - reserving judgement my series reservation was set so close to the event they did not have much opportunity to change the event id's. The next episode is really the acid test

It's not what you know, it's who you know.

1 Emmerdale, 2 Corries and 1 Identity all recorded fine on a series link from 119. Time to break out the champers

Well done to Bob

Agreed BUT sadly a pathetic reflection of modern system organisation.. where highly skilled people outside of the organisation..
with no ill-will.. are more and instantly aware of technical failures then those at the work front..
Indeed.. one night with my cable experience and some 'Tools' i was able to see cumulative cable failures and then find the next day that the info would have been welcomed by the cable organisation concerned..
In the old days..such outsiders were valued and had a special number that they could be relied upon to only use when they knew it was appropriate..
It was heartening in some recent police activity ..when they realised a 'Valued Input' and provided me with a personal mobile number to call 24/7.. I guess they broke some H&S and DP laws but I am grateful for such a sensible force looking after my community.

Not sure if already noted, but using iPlayer holds the launching channel open and can result in lost recordings. Noticed yesterday when only one tuner was connected (temp problem for me) so not sure if this still happens if HDR connected correctly.

Just returned from holiday to find that my HDR has missed lots of recordings, all series linked. Most problems seem to be centred around programmes recorded on 12 July as the schedule has several entries with this date at the top of the list.

The Silence (BBC HD). Recorded first episode on 12/7 but schedule did not move on and so failed to record anything else.

Rev (BBC HD). Recorded 5/7 and 12/7 but failed to move schedule on and would have missed 19/7.

Identity (ITV HD). Recorded 5/7 and 12/7 but failed to move schedule on and would have missed 19/7.

This is very disappointing as it means the HDR cannot be relied upon to record properly whilst away. I'll just have to blow the dust off the Toppy and forego HD.

Intriguingly, this never happens when the HDR is being used on a daily basis - ie, being brought out of standby and used. So is the problem due to it being left in standby for extended periods?

[Edit] Using pre- and post-padding, not Auto.

Is it possible that you had a power failure on the 12th? I have fallen victim to this myself whilst away. Not that its any consolation, but my series link of The Silence on BBC HD all worked OK, so that is why the idea of the power came to mind.

I have no evidence of a power cut, although the only thing in the house that would show it is the electronic clock on the cooker, which was still displaying the correct time. It's possible there could have been an extremely short duration hiccup - I don't know how long an interruption the HDR and cooker clock can withstand, possibly only milliseconds?

i get that kind a lot, enough to make my UPS kick in in my comp. but not enough to blank the microwave clock.

In full low power sby a hdr can withstand a power cut of about 15-20 seconds (the time it takes for the red led to extinguish, if fully on there is no problem the hdr boots back upon power restoration and carries on normally.

If that's the case then, no, there wasn't a power cut because the cooker clock won't survive even a couple of seconds.

So still a mystery, then...

Been on hols for 2 and a bit weeks - no missed recordings

I use a power off time of 2:55 AM and a power on time of 3:20 AM (with the power on channel set to the Freesat infor channel). I have done this on 5 or 6 occassions now and it appears to sucessfully overcome the power cut bug (of course there is always a risk of a prolonged power cut in the 25 minutes it is off).

I know it's been said manytimes before but a power cut on holiday should not stop a pvrs scheduled recordings once power is back on ... however with the Humax it does. Farcical really.
Good thing the rest of the unit is pretty good now.

When experimenting I discovered it has to be in standby by 3AM to perform its house keeping. If the power on time is set at 3:15 or earlier then the HDR did not seem to perform its house keeping (at least no thumbnails were generated on new recordings).

So to be on the safe side I use 2:55 and 3:20 as the off and on times. The experimentation was done last year (i.e. a couple of firmware releases ago) so it may well have changed and may not need such a large window.

I'm getting a lot of instant recordings where it appears in the schedule as date:

19/01 and start time 3am approx !!

Considering we're in July its hardly surprising they don't record.

This seems to be a recent thing so I'm wondering if its the box or badly flagged recordings.
