Desire updated but now not sending texts
Yesterday my Desire downloaded an android 2.1 update and so i happily said yes to install.
Ever since then it fails to send texts, loses signal constantly and is always in 'emergency' mode. which i have never had before. i've tried restarting and popping it in airplane mode (a tip I read elsewhere) but still nothing. Anybody else having trouble? I'm on 02 as is my son and OH and they are having no signal issues. |

If all else fails it might be worth backing up your data and doing a factory reset.

It makes and recieves calls no problem. |

Yup, got this also. I have to keep "Retry sending" to get texts to send.

Just posted this on the Finally got a Desire, any tips? thread after OTA update to 1.21.405.2 Quote:
ooooops!
Just had a notification of an OTA update for my HTC Desire. As I was on WiFi, I decided to go for it. It downloaded quickly, and I clicked "Install". After a short while, an error message without recourse: "An error occurred while saving your data to your SD card. The backup cannot be completed." Without any option to abort, it then rebooted straight away and applied the update, and whilst I don't appear to have lost anything (so far as I can tell), the home screens have all reset to the default, with a new animated version of the original background. I'm now painstakingly trying to restore my set-up! Also a little unsure about GPS. It failed to lock-on after the initial re-start after update, but was OK after re-starting again but I've got that "is it taking longer than before" niggle... surely that's down to the GPS chipset though so surely that's most likely psychological! Just tried sending an SMS and that worked fine by the way. I've now turned off automatic check for system updates and made a note to self never to install an OTA update the minute it comes out - wait a month until the public beta test has finished...
