I'd like to know how someone can write a dissertation good enough for a departmental prize without being able to construct a coherent sentence, basically know what 'ah mean, right, yeah, basically.

I'm genuinely puzzled about this. Kitten's lecturers would be well up on current projects/programmes available in the field. I have a friend who is a lecturer at Derby who spends most of his time checking that dissertations are all original work
