Ooops! May of Upgraded on Impulse!!
Wyle

Earlier I discovered I am able to upgrade my O2 contract. So, I got all excited and ordered a Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro. Now I have gotten over this initial excitement, I think I have made the wrong choice!

I currently have a HTC Tattoo, which, to be honest, isn't the best phone I have ever owned. The only thing I like about it is the facebook and twitter apps. Although I don't use the pre-installed apps.

I am not a fan of touchscreen phones, but unfortunately they are in abundance at the moment. So I thought get one with a slide out qwerty keyboard. Hence why I went for the Vivaz Pro. Since then I have read reviews, and they weren't fantastic.

Now, I am confused. Do I get the phone and hope that as long as I don't put in my sim card I can send it back, try and cancel it or just keep it for 2 long years!?!

I really don't know what other phones could be for me. I loved my N81, had it for over 2 years and it was fab, never let me down. All I know now is that I would like easy access to facebook and twitter.

Any help/advice/ideas would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance, and sorry for going on a bit.....

It's made of cheap plastic, it's got a resistive touchscreen (I mean. . do people still use these?), it has no auto correct which is terrible for a touchscreen phone, and it uses a stylus.

You can record HD video, you have a high mega pixel camera, it's made by Sony and you can upload to YouTube, it has a great walkman player.

There's my review.

3 out of 5.

All of which was in the reviews I have already read...

sorry, but wasn't after another review.

Try and cancel if you don't want it, aren't you covered by distance selling rules or something like that?

I think so. About one week as long as it is not used with the sim in. But good old O2 don't say anything in their terms and conditions. Well, not that I could find. Probably not looking properly

With o2 you can cancel the upgrade within 14 days providing you don't open it.

Thank you for that I am very tempted to just send it back when it arrives....

If the feeling takes me, I may save up for an iphone.

Found this for you, hope it helps.

Quote:
“How do I return or exchange my phone?
If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it to us within 14 days from the date of receipt to obtain a full refund or exchange. If you have used the SIM card, you will still have to pay for the pro-rated line rental amount and any charges outside of your allocated allowance.

Please contact Customer Services and they will advise you on how to process your return or exchange.

Please have the following information ready when you call:

Order number
Your full name and address
If you change your mind about a SIM Only tariff you may also cancel your contract within the first 14 days. Please contact Customer Services for more information:

Pay Monthly customers: 0870 600 3009
Pay & Go customers: 08705 678 678”

Naturally as you are an upgrade - ignore the sim card bit. (just don't open the phone at all).

That's fab!! Thank you so much!

Now I just need to work out what I would like instead. My HTC Tattoo is usable, but I just don't like it...O2 shop for me most likely.

The good thing with O2 returns (note - only applies to orders from the O2 website!) is that you can use the phone and still send it back within 14 days. You just have to pay for any calls / texts you've made.

That's good to know. So I can get it out the box and still have a look.

One more question...When I send the phone back (it has arrived and I don't like it), does that also cancel the contract? It's just that I have found an iphone for £230, I plan to get that and then go for the iphone simplicity.

After you've sent back the handset (and I'd return it by Royal Mail Special Delivery, or something similar if I were you), you have to call O2 to cancel the contract - simply returning the phone won't cancel the airtime contract.
It is, however, a fairly painless procedure. Well it was when I did it anyway!
