A profile contains the settings required to communicate over the mobile phone network. o2 for example have different settings than Orange or T-Mobile. Think of it as Dial-Up internet - each Dialup account had different usernames, passwords, and telephone numbers. Its the same thing.

Ok cool, i get ya....So there's not like any ones I can put in myself that'll be of any benefit?
Also it came with like 2 default settings one is GPRS something and the other is VM picture messaging or somethin, they both seem to work fine but on one the homepage (which is kinda lame anyway) doesnt load and says authorisation error or something? |

Its possibly that your SIM card hasn't been enabled for data usage.
GPRS is Global Packet Radio System, and is commonly known as 2G in phone terms. Its essentially the same as an ADSL style connection but over the phone network. VM Picture Messaging uses GPRS to download and send picture messages, but as it is billed differently, it will use different settings to connect up. One thing you could try is visiting the Virgin website in order to get the settings re-sent to your phone. |

Matherton is set up ok, its just that if you try to use the Picture Messaging settings to browse the web, it won't work properly because it will try to find a web page on the messaging server.
