Producers on the show are going to start doing more comedy plots on the show as a way of bringing the viewers back they are also considering removing Kat and Alfie from the Vic by bringing in a new younger couple to run it.

funny that, I thought that before Kat and alfie got married, they were actually quite funny together! but now...I don't know why EE are trying to get them out of the vic?

Anyway even if it's genuine this doesn't really say anything. Just because they are "considering" doing something doesn't mean it will happen, just means it crossed someone's mind (or not as the case may be). It's one of those front page "Alfie to leave?" stories designed to generate some publicity.

As for the comedy -- they can't do it, as discussed on another thread, end of story.

Sorry, is there a reason you're being bloody rude to Tommy C, or is it just general form these days to have a go when someone posts a thread you're not interested in? Surely the point of a discussion forum is, um, discussion? Whether it's true or not people are entitled to pass on rumours they've heard.

Surely EE has all the comedy it needs what with Jim and Patrick and there hilarious storylines involving home-brew and budgies

I for one would also like to see the end of these squabbles over the Vic, it's too much to expect that someone will actually get the whole share of the Vic though! i'm fed up with these struggles for possesion, it would be nice to see someone who's not a wanna-be mafia member owning the whole thing!

I have no problem with people passing on 'rumours' as long as they identify them as such. What annoys me is when people post stuff as 'fact'/ 'definite inside information', when in reality they read it on another talkboard, or heard someone mention it in the pub (not that I am saying that is necessarily what Tommy C is doing, but there have been other recent incidences of that).

Could I suggest that the 'consider' doing more comedy only after the writer's have learnt how to write it properly?

oh dear. more "alfie tries to find a condom and finds it impossible" and "wedding day "disasters" like turning up in a police car, getting sprayed with water, spilling red wine on the dress" <yawn>

*cringes* Eastenders can't do comedy - leave it for Corrie. Whilst we're on the subject, Eastedners can't do good plots, consistent writing or hire good actors - leave it all for Corrie.

Couldn't agree more. If by comedy they mean the "hilarious" curry antics of Gus and Juley or the "Hysterical" rice antics of Mikey then forget it. An EE comedy moment is about as funny as keyhole surgery... Leave to Corrie kings of the light touch and one-liners

I did enjoy the 'Alfie's cake' scenario though, in a cheesy kinda way. Where Ian was carrying the cake round the square all day and being a git to Pat, you just knew it was gonna happen, the writers knew you knew it was gonna happen...

Eastenders does have its funny moments, although not always intentionally!

I've always found Corrie really dull, and EE much better. Its not great at the mo but all soaps have their bad phases and im sure it will pick up again soon......

I think more comedy wouldn't do it any harm, if its done properly!!

Its about bloody time. DeadEnders is so depressing I find it hard to resist the razor blades after any episode.

A simply believe this is a PR stunt, whether it be a good or bad source, or any source whatsoever. They want you to tune in, but I bet the comedy won't change whatsoever. If this was an economic cycle, it would be the Great Depression (literally) of the 1930s.

The storyline with Dot and Pauline at the minute is quite funny (there were good one liners) - after a bit of a dull patch EE seems to be getting alot better. Even the Ferreiras 'eviction' scenes were good - they do need to interact more with the rest of the square. Whereas even a month ago the Kat Andy Alfie story would have gon on and on - now after the videocassette being handed over we havent heard much of it so were not bored with it.

As for coronation st I can't see what people see in it - mind you i've never seen more than five minutes of it (and I have no intention of ever watching it again)!

Ah well that gives you the a great insight into a great soap 5 whole minutes and you make up your mind. Good balanced judgement there then

I expected them to be more... boring - the scripts for the Ferreiras have been dire - no/little interaction, very long - and glum: how often have we seen Kareena smile. I know they've received alot of stick but i honestly don't find them to be all that bad - especially given the scripts they've been asked to do.

I think I liked the scene essentially because of the quicker pace and the little ray of sunshine with Adi/Pat/Mortgage offer. (He looked so pleased when Pat offered to help - I couldn't help thinking it wasn't just acting)

They really couldnt be any more boring than they are. Dire scripts, dire acting and nosensical plots
