Hi

I want to buy a cheap handset without having to add airtime credit to the handset. All Argos phones state you have to buy airtime but I want to give this phone as a gift to someone abroad and get it unlocked over there.... Are there any places where I can get one....

Any suggestions.

Thanks.

buy a cheap phone from carphone, they are mostly unlocked. and use the top up for yourself. save messing around trying to unlock it abroad.

I think Carphone warehouse require airtime credit but thanks for the info, I think I've seen a cheap Nokia handset for a fiver on their site, if I have to buy airtime credit for a tenner, so be it. I will only pay £15 for the handset. I wonder if they could give me the phone unlocked though?

Have another read of popp's post. I think you have failed to grasp its meaning.

how about asda mobile?

dont think they need a top-up to purchase - and are already unlocked to any network.
handsets start from £17
