iPhone or Blackberry?
Hello all!
I really need some good advice about my next phone: I've pretty much narrowed it down to a new iPhone or a Blackberry Bold. I used to own an iPhone and I did like it a lot, but the cost of the iPhone 4 is putting me off a bit: plus I also have an iPod Touch so I can use apps and things on that without needing another device. I'd be interested if people think the iPhone 4 is really worth it? That's had me interested in Blackberry because the email and more office-based functions seem very useful but I've never owned one and don't have any experience with using one. Can any existing users fill me in what they like and dislike about them? It would be a major help!

I have just got an iPhone4 after having a BB Bold for 18 months.
I cant comment too much on the iPhone as I have only been using it for a few days, but so far I can say I LOVED my BlackBerry, the way email works is far better than the iPhone and I will miss having a "proper" keyboard. There may be an app thats works with Hotmail properly (by deleting off my actual Hotmail rather than just my phone - the BB did this but the iPhone doesn't - I will look to see if there is an app that does this). BUT the iPhone looks better, some of the Apps are really good (Blackberry Apps are very poor) and it seems to have a lot of quirky features whereas the BB doesnt. If you are going to be using it primarily for work, at the moment I would say BlackBerry, but for Personal/Social use, the iPhone. |

I am not sure, I dont think so, I did read somewhere that you have to get an app to do it.

TBH I'm more likely to want to use the phone for more basic business/email/communicating purposes as I feel I do have an Apple app-style device, and it's a tad cheaper, so I think I'll go with the Blackberry - but I am very keen to hear other people's views.

Windows Live has an actual app that was released a few weeks ago.
It's an IM client and has access to your inbox, photos etc. It's a great app. |

iPhone all the way mate. The best way to decide would be to decide whether it's for business or pleasure. Business, POSSIBLY the Blackberry but for personal use, iPhone all the way. The only thing I think works better on the Blackberry (I have both) is the email features but the iPhone is grand even for hotmail etc. It has far more and better apps which is what makes it better for personal use really. I personally think it looks better too.
Don't forget, you have a trial period to send a phone back if you don't like it

I have had an iphone for the last couple of years and found I got less impressed the longer I had it. True, it has loads of apps and is a breeze to use. The browser is great and the os is superb. However, I have found (and I know this isnt the case for everyone) that the 'push' functions just do not work. Most of the apps are great for a little while but then stop getting used altogether.
I now have a Blackberry Storm 2. I love the fact that the notifications and messages (email, facebook, twitter etc) come straight through to the phone immediately. I love the Blackberry Messenger, and lots of things I had to pay for on the iphone (ie tasks manager) are free and integrated in the Blackberry. I really can't see me going for a phone which lets me down (push, texts failing and calls dropping) as much as the iphone does again. I'll be sticking with the BB which has really impressed me for some time. |

If your going to be mainly using it for work then the Blackberry would make more sense, anyway of late they've been making a greater effort to make the phone better for social use too. It has a decent apps store too.
