Blackberry 'scroller button' - any ideas?

Sorry if this has been asked before but -

my daughter has a blackberry and the scroller ball (or whatver it is called!!) is being arsey!

It will only scroll sideways and not down - therefore she is unable to use the phone properly.

It is on a t-mobile contract and they said to take it in tomorrow but that they will probably send it away.

This happens all the time (she says) but it usually sorts itself out -obviously not this time though. Is it something that can be fixed easily, does it have to be sent away and is this a common problem with blackberrys?

Thank you

The scroll ball on older BBs go wrong all the time. That's why they updated to optical trackpads in the newer models. It can be sent away for repair.

On a side note, why the heck do kids have Blackberries?!

What I do with mine is turn it off, the push the ball in while moving it in different directions for about 2-3 mins. That should sort it out. its just a spec of dirt caught in it.

Hope this helps

thank you

I will tell her to try your suggestion Currylover. - And if it has to be sent away, then so be it!

Pranz - I have no idea why - hopefully when the contract comes up for renewal she can get something else!!
