Program clashes with no warning
john7

At some stage our 9200T used to warn if there was too many recordings set for the same time. There was a screen warning at the time and when setting the program to record. My wife has a number of series’ set and we keep getting the recording of programs saying there were too many programs set when we go to replay recordings so nothing there. This was happening before the lat update, could well have been the BETA one that introduced the problem.

Is this a common problem?

I don't think it is common. Did you do a reset to default settings after installing the software?

Yes every time there is an update.

OK. Can you give some specific instances of clashes that have occurred? There are some current problems due to the constant reorganisations of the schedules due to the World Cup and Wimbledon and the latest versions of the software not coping very well with these changes.

There have been a number of reports about problems recording Lewis. Any others?

Without going into great detail. it is quite possible for there not to be a clash when recordings are scheduled and for a slightly early start or late finish, by as little as a minute, to introduce a clash that wasn't there before.

Yes that is a common occurrence if you have a large number of occasions with two programme sheduled to record at the same time and other recordings scheduled consecutively with the other two. Normally that just causes one or more programmes to be truncated rather than fail completely. There is an isuue with Instant recordings on the Humax Freeview PVRs. If an Instant Recording is set and this clashes with a scheduled recording on the same channel following immeduately (due for example to the scheduled recording attempting to start before its scheduled time) then the scheduled recording fails completely.

We delete them when found so have kept no record of them. It has been an increasing problem and as I said befor we used to get a warning at the time of setting a program to recored OR as it started to record that there were too many recordings but havn't had this for a long time.

Just had the same problem tonight on my 9300.

I managed to get 3 series links all starting at 21:00 tonight without any warning message (that I recall)

Two and a half men on Viva (21:00-21:30, 21:30-22:00)
Burn Notice on Fiver (21:00-22:00)
Medium on Virgin1 (21:00-22:00)

Burn Notice and Two and a Half Men recorded OK but Medium produced an error symbol at record time

It's not happened before but I'm inclined to treat it as a one-off funny for the time being

I managed to get exactly the same problem again this week as above from last week.

I know how it happens now - it is a sort of bug but not one that can be easily fixed I think

All 3 programmes were on series links with Burn Notice and Medium on weekly episodes from 9-10 PM and 2 1/2 men on daily episodes from 9-10 PM. Just on the Thursday when all 3 coincide then you effectively end up with 3 simultaneous recordings being scheduled and the last one to start bombs out with an error

Not really a show-stopper compared to some of the other known bugs but it means keeping an eye open to spot it before it happens so as to re-schedule something. Only really a problem if you do a lot of reservations all on series links (like I do)

The 9000 series only warns of clashes when the timer is first setup.
This means that if a series uses a different slot after the current epg runs out (or the unlikely event that the cuurent epg contents are updated) then there can be a clash without any warning.

That is to be expected as the broadcasters are adding additional programmes to catch up with those interrupted by the World Cup. These additional programmes can course clashes with existing Series Record events, As these clashes did not exist when the events were originally scheduled the unit cannot give any warning.
