connecting Playstation 2 to TFT monitor
I have a TV in my room, which is a portable one which most people have in their bedrooms. It only has sockets for an ariel and a scart connection. The only controls on the TV are the volume and channel controls. I have lost the remote, and universal remotes don't work. I need to get to my AV channel to run the ps2. I can't do this because there is no remote to do this.
I want to connect my PS2 to my tft monitor on my PC. I have done a bit of research on the web and have found the "XGA Box" will support tft monitors. I was just wondering, how can there be sound if the connection is to the monitor???? Is there a way to connect the ps2 to my PC speakers. I only ask this because they are the best speakers in my house. Please, i dont want anyone telling me to buy a new TV because i don't want one. |

A cheapest option might be an RF adapter, but only if you're able to tune in without the remote
http://shop.game.net/ViewProduct.asp...314&mid=285120 Which XGA box are you thinking of? There are a few here: http://www.lik-sang.com/?click=cat-219-link If you check out the larger pics on lik-sang you'll see the audio conections are mostly RCA's |

There are VGA boxes and I gather even SVGA boxes which I assume offer better resolutions.
What I wanted to know was, do these boxes do go straight into the monitor, or do they use the computer for processing? As I wouldnt want to have to use the computer all the time. |

I've got an "XGA Box" and it will work fine. The idea is that you connect the PS2 video via either RCA or S-Video and the sound via 2 RCA plugs (standard PS2 supplied "3 RCA plugs" cable works fine).
You would connect the PC's VGA and sound via the supplied cables then plug the monitor VGA and speakers into the box. This way, you can switch both the video and sound between the PC and PS2 (or whatever) together. I know you've probably tried this, but does the channel down button on the TV go below 0 to the AV inputs? May save a lot of hassle. |

Which make/model of TV is it? It may be a 'clone' of another model which will work with the remote code - eg the remote for my Samsung TV controls the Osaki.

Another idea !
Asuming you're a trendy student type person ![]() do you have one of those new mobile phones? You can download all kinds of little applications for them, one of which is a remote control: http://www.psiloc.com/?id=prod&nrp=94 |

my tv doesn't go down to the av inputs,
I don't care anymore!! its a sharp 37AM-23H if that helps anyone! would rather have it on my tft monitor because its bigger than my tv and better quality + my speakers are some of the best pc speakers. |
