Just got one:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your recent email regarding EPG failure on FREESAT.

I can confirm that this is not an ITV issue and other broadcasters are also affected. However, the issue is being addressed by those responsible for the EPG data on the Freeview platform and will hopefully be resolved shortly.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to contact us here at ITV.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seem like BS to me as ITV seem to be far and away the worst offender and if it were a general problem why does it seem to only affect specific series of programmes?

Note the person who replied has changed from freesat at the start to blaming Freeview near the end. Obviously someone without a clue.

Just a standard letter that they put out for both FreeSat and FreeView. It would seem that the person who sent out the mail just changed the one over to FreeSat and forgot the second one. Simples!!

Its not a freesat wide problem, its ITV and ITV only so either ITV are screwing up or someone who does the EPG is screwing up only with ITV.

That message is a standard fob off, they havent even looked into the problem, no wonder everyone thinks they are a joke.

Identical reply to me too..
Perhaps if i'd remained in the Pool I'd be OK..
as it is like others I'm 20 miles from London..and nothing else programmed at the times involved..

My Guess is that it does possibly relate to the responsibles for EPG updates - I guess they got a response that once someboby else screwed it up as well. The Question remains with is why noboby seems to have problems with BBC recordings.

I'am and my Humax are quite new friends but but I have yet to have a recoding problem - but there again my TV tastes don't tend to correspond with IVT progs (as yet).

I agree it's a fob off.

It's not an epg problem. The epg and schedule is correct (The programme and crid codes are correct which is why the schedule updates to the next episode). The problem is connected to accurate recording, What appears to be happening is ITV is sending the programme status change to start the recording but changing the event ID at short notice so the hdr ignores the start recording signal because it's apparently not for the programme the hdr is waiting to record, so it ignores it. Frankly the level of incompetence in ITV staggers me

You would think they woould have the expertise to get it right but apparently not.

Graham,
Perhaps a similar worded email from yourself to ITV and ask that it be forwarded to their Multiplexer operator?
I believe the term is "Running status flag".

Already done together with a polite request to talk to the Humax technical team. Response was that they would refer to the technical bods, Hopefully they will finally take the problem on board. At least they did not give the usual response, no problems at this end it's somebodys elses fault.,

If the problem continues I will complain to OFCOM and suggest anyone else affected does the same. As in all these things a report of the problem quoting what happens together with a reasoned argument as to why it must down to ITV hopefully will produce a solution. Simply stating that the problem is confined to ITV1 and not the other ITV channels ought to make them realise there is something wrong.

Interestingly after a chain of emails I have been asked to keep a log and report the issues to viewerservices and that the technical team are looking into it.

Is it only Humax boxes having this issue?

This will only affect PVR's of which there are more Humax's than anything else so its not surprising that it appears like only Humax viewers are complaining.

It is definitely only on the freesat side - on Sky both SD and ITV1HD show series link available for tonight.

It has a series link and the crids line up with the next episode. I can't check what crids the last episode used but it looks as ITV (bless em ) have changed the series crid hence the failure to pick up tonights episode. Anyone brave enough should dump the old series record reservation and start a new one.

Second possibility is that they have given tonights episode the same programme crid as the last one so the box thinks it's a repeat.

As stated elsewhere, both corrie & emmerdale showed on series link. Em. recorded, corrie didn't. Not even a failed recording notice.

Just emailed ITV again.

Looked back at my chain of emails to them, first was sent 5th April - so this has been going on for some time. Although does seem to have escalated of late.

Not sure if this is relevant, but the failed recordings all show as CH 119 rather than ITV1HD.

Coronation Street didn't record for me last night even though when I switched onto the channel, the "To be recorded" symbol showed up in the bottom left of the banner.

This isn't the first time this has happened. I shall have to set the series link to record on ITV "LD" from now on and just manually stop it if I'm in watching in HD.

Most likely an irrelevant question.

Does method of reservation have anything to do with the problem?

Version 1 Selecting ITV1 then HD version, then Series link
Version 2 Selecting ITV HD then series link

I used version 2 as Ive deleted the SD ITV channel.

I've used version 1 as I do for most ITV recordings.

@Flyer 10, if you're having the same problem, it must be a problem regardless of which version we use.

Yup, so its not limited to region or how the recordings are done, it must be an ITV cock up.
