The part I saw of TWWL did look cropped at the sides, but as I didn't see the film in the cinema and haven't on DVD I can't confirm, but as far as I'm aware it's meant to be 2.35:1.
FRIDAY THE 13th is definitely meant to be 1.85:1, though the DVD I saw was opened up slightly to 1.78:1.
