Yes, and it's not 1%. What a stupid post you made. Unless the black bars move (down to a crappy print which is all over the place), I read another thread on here which described the issue as the channels short-changing us on resolution. I don't know exactly how it works, but that's what results in the effect you see.
The thread was on here so long ago that I can't find it now.

BBC have started pushing the boat out with their premieres, but for repeated films, they rarely bother. With a lot of new broadcasts also being in HD, they're getting OAR prints as well.
Whoever at ITV keeps getting premiere HD prints cropped to 16:9 for Universal, Sony and others, they really should be subject to having Laurence Olivier as their dentist..

Incredibles premiered cropped to 16:9. From its second BBC1 screening onwards, it was 2.35:1.
