Doctors - Ready for a shot at primetime?
Nate Seinfeld
03-06-2004
I have found myself watching or taping this show more and more over the last six months and I was wondering if anyone else thinks that maybe this excellent show should be slowly getting elevated to primetime.

It might not necessarily be worthy of a BBC One evening berth but it could certainly do a job on BBC Two even if they just showed the normal afternoon show on One after Neighbours and then repeated it on Two at 6:30pm.

It could work, anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Snap. I too have found myself taping this. It started with taping The Father Dowling Mysteries when I added a little bit to the beginning. I have now re-programmed the machine to record Doctors as well.

Like you I am not sure it is BBC1 primetime material, but they should certainly find it an evening slot somewhere.

Maybe I dreamed this, but I thought that one of the past series of Doctors DID air in prime time (7pm?). I think it was a repeat after the event as it were, but then again, I may have imagined it.

I watched the first two series and really liked it but thought it went steadily downhill. Haven't watched the last series, or this -- so maybe it's improved without me knowing.

There isn't room for another bbc1 prime time soap -- although of course they could always shunt EE over to bbc3

EastEnders needs a new lick of paint, Doctors needs a better slot so that it can built on its very healthy daytime ratings - it gets over 2million viewers. Brilliant for a show that airs at 2:05 in the afternoon!

Doctors is getting really good, and I tend to be taping it more and more. I cant see it getting a prime time slot on BBC1 as it's a 5 day a week soap and would need to fit around all the other main soaps. From 5.30 - 9pm there are soaps on one channel or another so it would be hard to fit Doctors in.

Maybe a repeat on BBC2, say in the 6pm slot!

I can't stand to watch it because of the awful "filmic" effect they use. This seems to be everywhere now.
