My Mum has just received a letter saying she is entitled to esa and will be in the support group, I have not saw the letter but it sounds pretty basic with not much info does anyone know if she is likely to receive any back dated payments and can she also apply for pip while on this esa? Also can you get the bus travel pass on esa or do you only get that with pip?

Oh lord. Being on ESA wrag is definitely making me worse though I can see why they do it, in the hope they bog u down so much you will be forced into work (bullied) , or you will just have to come off ESA and starve to death / kill yourself etc.
If anyone in this thread has any ideas on what part time work I can do to come off ESA please let me know (or working from home). Open to any ideas!
Have chronic anxiety where I can vomit spontaneously over usually something very minor, also weak immune system from stress so I have virus every month which knocks me out for a week at least each time.
Really ill this week so dreading having to call the 'work program' tomorrow to call in sick and speak to one of the patronising morons.
I at least live with parents and have a couple of grand in savings so I count myself one of the lucky ones!

yes you will get backdated pay, depending if it was a new claim or not, i got some backpay.
also an update, i finally got my assessors report through the post a week ago, i had to ring up 5 times for it, they kept saying we sent it every time, it was a joke, it was like they didnt want me to have a copy, anyway, i am happy with what was said in it. and im happy i got in the support group.

Is this a new claim for ESA? If so, the extra money for being in the support group (£35.75 pw support group component + £15.55 pw enhanced disability premium) should be backdated to a date 13 weeks after the date her ESA claim started.
If she is transferring to ESA from IB or IS, the extra money will be paid from the date that her IB or IS stops.
She can apply for PIP and the bus pass is only automatic for people with the enhanced rate of the mobility component. However, she may be entitled to a bus pass on medical grounds regardless of any benefit award, on the grounds of her disability alone. She should speak to her local council.

In any event, any changes would only happen after a new government is appointed and how that government approaches the benefits issue would depend upon the composition of that government

The eligibility criteria for a bus pass on the grounds of disability are given below. The odd thing is things seem to have been noticeably tightened up in recent years whether that's the eligibility criteria themselves or the interpretation of those criteria and a reduction in giving applicants the benefit of the doubt.

She was originally on jsa but has been on a basic rate esa for months while we waited on an appointment for her medical. Thanks for the info.

David Camerons pitiful excuses about food banks on channel 4 last night was just something else! I have seen him in a whole new light and really wanted to believe he was a good man, but just left all this sort of stuff to the utterly loathesome ian Duncan smith .

Please people dont vote conservatives, they are totally disgusting, what they have done and are doing to the disabled people and most vulnerable people in our society is just beyond shocking, and they get away with murder.
If conservatives do get to stay in power with a coalition or not, it will definitely be bad for disabled people. labour on the other hand are just as bad as the conservatives, maybe they wont cute benefits for disabled, but they might if they need to form a coalition.

Went into jobcentre today to get a envelope to post my fit note which was issued today, the jobcentre took my fit note and said they will forward it. Is this normal?

I'm not sure about believing the warm words in the manifestos but the Conservatives have publicly promised an extra £12 billion in welfare cuts over the lifetime of the next parliament.
I have read that tories will remove wrag, tax dla/pip and stop cold weather payments. What I beleive of this I don't know but if they get in I believe that will happen. They already sneaked in a change to jsa meaning that you can go sick for longer whilst on it so you don't need to claim esa and get a possible extra £30 if you stay on it long enough. not sure how long you can do that on jsa so I may well not be sprouting true facts on this. They seem very cagey about benefit intentions from what I have saw reported.
Labour so far seem to be limiting child benefit, stopping cold weather payment for the wealthy, provide a job for the young which they will lose benefits if they refuse it, with youth allowance for slightly older people, keep/lower benefit cap where necessary, abolish bedroom tax, reform wca and support disabled people into working.

these work providers truley are awful and i would never have believed the stories i read on the internet till i have become a 'victim' myself.
today i left the building, started crying and breathing uncontrolably so i had to run into the cemetry of all places to calm down.
now i am in the library and just do not know what to do for the best.
shall i sign off benefits altogether and try and find another way of making the £100 a week from some sort of work from home scheme? though that is what i have been looking for for ages 1

Pinkprint did you know you can get your GP to write a sick note so you don't have to attend these meetings?
I don't know of the exact wording (hopefully someone will be of more use for that) but basically if the gp agrees they can do the note and the JC can't make you attend them.

In this instance, getting a medical exemption with GP back up the next time they send appointment details through the post could help avoid these stressful situations because no DWP intervention or requirement should actually make anyone's condition worse. If you need helping with the wording of any letter to the DWP about this matter then the nearest Citizens Advice Bureau office might be able to help with that aspect.
