Would it be cheaper for me to go from BT to 02 ?
Hi all
My BT contract runs out at the end of the month. Not sure if I'll save money in the long run by migrating to 02. Since I've already got broadband with them, will there be a discount of some sort ? I'm paying by Direct Debit and have paper-free billing. Also, the only 'extra' I've got is call barring. Looks like I'm paying £2.59 for the privilege. Line rental is £15.78 a month - I'm actually shocked at that (just logged in to find out) - I could have sworn it was about £11 something.

Minus (further down the bill) £1.25 for paperfree billing.
What about Caller Display? Do you have/use that now? ).And no, I've only got call-barring as one of the add-ons. I've had a look on the 02 site and apparently I can get the same for about £1.25 (instead of the £2.59 I'm paying at the moment). I think I'll give BT a call tomorrow and tell them about 02. Wonder if they'll offer me any discounts ? |

If you have Cable in your area,
can't you get Virgin instead as they are a lot faster? |

That would mean changing my broadband (from 02) to Virgin. Don't really want to do that.
I signed up to O2 Home Phone yesterday (due to go active on 23rd of this month) as I've had enough of BT's appalling billing. It got that bad that I am leaving with four months still remaining on the free evenings and weekends (will cost me about £28 but worth it). I've gone for the £9.50pm line rental including free evenings and weekends calls to 01.02 and 03 numbers plus £1 extra for the 1571 service (still £1.04 cheaper than BT on paper free-billing when they decide to use it and £2.50 without) although I need a new phone so may get one with an answer machine. Hi Heinz (btw, you're not the same on the 'Money saving expert' forum, are you ?

I think I'll give BT a call tomorrow and tell them about 02. Wonder if they'll offer me any discounts ? When asked why, I said its for two main reasons. 1. Unlimited downloads. 2. UK based 24/7 freephone call centre and not having to talk to someone in a foreign based call centre who has very little understanding of the English language (one of which advised me to ignore a bill once). |

Thanks Andrew.
And I managed to get line rental reduced from £12.79 a month to £9.79. Better than nothing, I guess. |
