Does anyone know when itv's new spin-off soap WEATHERFILED GENERAL is going to start?

I see theve allready built the entire set, both inside and outside, which they are using in corrie at the moment.

I actually think that this show might just work, its a bit like DOCTORS, only set in a hospital. Each episode will be self contained allthough some storylines will run into other episodes.

Anyway, it looks good, but when will it start, it cant be long now

Wetherfield General?.....Coronation Street was based on Tatton Street Ordsall ,Salford....that area would now be served by The Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Trust ..principally Hope Hospital,Stott Lane, Salford.

PS There are more than one or two "Karls" working there . And great lads they are!!!!

I think with good scripts this could work and make for some great cross over story lines. i would like to see more of this for example a hospital drama based in london where members of The Bill pop in from time to time etc etc

A great crossover would be Blanche going to the country for a break, staying at the B&B in Emmerdale, going to the pub and meeting Edna.

Yeh they could be old friends who fell out years ago. That would make some great scenes, Blanche and Edna having a spat in the pub. It would be so funny

I know, mentioned this in the Crossroads thread a fe days ago. Franchise TV is the way forward for worried TV execs. They are guaranteed a subsyantial audience to start with.
Still no confirmation of Weatherfield General starting but I would put my money on September.

ITV make brilliant soaps, so I think they should just spin off everything into a soap.

Maybe they could turn the winner off of Who wants to be a Millionaire into a soap about a person who won a million on Who wants to be a millionaire, the main theme would be how they spent their money and became greedy and lost all their real friends and got a drug addiction and overdosed and died, but then a new miracle drug came out that brings people back to life but it cost £500,000 so then all their money was gone and they had to ask their old friends for help and try and rebuild the relatioships.

Were you on drugs when you came up with this idea?

Convice people to help them from the dead? Are they going to get Derren Brown on as a cameo to talk through the mists of the netherworld?

What happened to the idea of the underworld girls being in a soap?

Blanche I would have thought would be friends with Emmerdales Betty - Betty was meant to be a stripper in her heyday well Blanche was a bit of a gal too which Street producers seemed to have forgotton she whipped local bookie and wide boy Dave Smith form under Elsie Tanners nose.

Have I been off on another planet again, I hadn't heard anything about this Weatherfield General spin off thing. Does this mean that we'll discover the truth, that Martin Platt is the only nurse in the hospital and will always be available in any department whenever the storyline arises. Either that, or Martin has numerous clones so he can always be there.

Well since Martin loses his job due to his attack on Karl it looks like they'll have to find a new familiar face to haunt the corridors..

More of a nod to the fact that Todd seems to be a scruffy b*stard...
