Was just going to ask that myself. If it turns out the snowy one, and the night time rain one are just set piece tracks, and you can't then get night/rain/snow on any other track, it's all a big con however good it looks.

A bit like the earlier GT games where a couple of the courses were at night always. This was presumably because the background scenery was just pre-drawn rather than being rendered on the fly.

I suppose the same applies here.. when you see the Coliseum in Rome flying past off track, are you seeing a predrawn image being moved about, or a proper 3D model?

From what I've read there is not a universal weather/night and day cycle system in GT5. It is only certain circuits which have these features, just like it's always been. But I expect quite a few tracks will actually have these features. So long as they are in who cares? I'm sure the tracks that do have this will be superb to race on.

I've got the point with GT5 now where I'm just going to enjoy it for what it is, and that is the best sim racer ever made. But of course there will always be compromises that have to be made.

just a warning to go make some tea when you pop that disk in.

Some user with the game posted on N4G (not the best place mind you)....

The initial install size of Gran Turismo 5 on your PS3 HDD is going to be 6.4 GB. He also revealed that it takes about 40 minutes to install.

However, interestingly, he says that the game will continue to install and decompress data throughout the course of your playtime and the actual disk space taken by the game on your PS3 will be a lot more.

some comments argue with the install time though

it's 256 manditory install, 6.4GB optional install with more installing during game play, the 6.4GB can take up to 50 minutes great game though!

Just had an email from Game warning me I may get an email to say my order has been processed much earlier then normal, but not to worry as the Courier will be holding my Game until the day of release. All I can say to that is 'Bar Stewards'. Deliver the flipping game already if you've got it.

I think this slightly wrong from what I have read during the install you have slider where from 256megabytes to 10gbs you can chose to install any amount up to the full 10gbs this will take 40mins but doing full install will aprentley give you best experience.

It's taken so long already, i think i can wait another 50 minutes when i get it

Anyway, a bigger install will defininately lead to a better experience. I don't want to ruin it in any way.

Don't know if anyone's posted it yet, it's still early, I've just got up and I'm bleary eyed. Haven't even finsished the 1st mug of wake-up juice yet.

Anyway, hands on review over at GTPlanet. It's pretty long, but explains quite a few things in detail.

Exactly. And it's a one time install.

Long installs... takes me back to my Spectrum days off waiting for a game to load

I ordered mine from Game - the Signature Edition - and I just hope I will not be disappointed

Got an advert and promo through from Blockbusters today. Basically you get a savings card and taking it along to blockbusters along with your membershup card gets you cheaper than instore prices. One of the games is GT5, where you can get it for £32.99

Best price I've seen yet, though I'll just keep my order with shop.to and get them to deliver it to me.

If you're a member then keep an eye out for it.

At this this is a one time thing now rather then every blood time you want a go. (Plus we don't have the screeching load noise that I remember from my Amstrad CPC464).

I remember on my mates C64 some games had a small mini game like Snake or something that could be played during loading, something like this would be pretty cool for these long PS3 installs, it cant be that hard to do as a snake type game would use hardly any system resources.

That would be like being forced to eat a Pot Noodle appetiser before tucking into your main meal of champagne, lobster and caviar.
