There's only one rule to this game. In order to post you must first listen to the song and give your opinion on it. Then you may post your own song.

If a song isn't on youtube and you have spotify post the link to spotify instead. If you don't have spotify then either wait till someone else posts or just explain you don't have spotify.

I'll start off then

Better than I thought it would be to be honest - but a bit on the long side for those with short attention spans ( i.e me ) .

Pass marks though .

Older posters will know this one - but may not have heard it in eons.

I think I've may have heard this once or twice in my lifetime before It's a nice tune but as I'm a rock fan (any era) I wouldn't listen to it on a regular basis.

Going even further back to the 1970's...

It's a singalong classic though I prefer others they did.
Nice tune

What a find this is - thanks Hayden .

One of the best songs I have heard this year . I love everything about it - the video , the production and of course the tune itself .

Is this a single ? Is it current ? Why have I not seen this on MTV ?

I urge other posters to check this out .

Europa - Blondie from their album Autoamerican - not what you would normally expect from our Debs and the boys . But I love it .

Have always loved 'Europa' Not Blondie's usual fare it must be said. It could have been used for a TV theme to a drama serial.

Always liked this song . Bought it on vinyl . Wouldn't sound out of place on MJ's 'Off the Wall' album - hardly surprising since Rod Temperton was involved in the writing of the song .

ELO - Shangri-La from A New World Record is next .

As I said a couple of weeks ago - I love this song . Far too good to be a B-side . Great to know that other people appreciate it going by the comments made on You Tuibe .

Stick with this next song as it builds up nicely to a great climax .
Should have been a single !

A single from an album called 'Avi Buffalo' which is chock full of equally good summery pop classics.
Came out earlier this year.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Great little pop song that- particularly enjoyed the thumping intro which sounds like something you would have heard during a car chase in Starsky and Hutch.

Great idea for a thread.

JC, I am not a soul fan, but I can agree that your choice is certainly pleasant. I played it a few times and I might convert.

I am really a prog fan, but I have a soft spot for this lady.

Thumbs up for that one Kernow . That's 2 songs I didn't know about that have impressed me and the thread's only been going for 2 days!

Didn't know that Cilla had recorded the original either .

Next up Bonnie Pointer : Johnny
(apologies for the sound quality on this )

I have been trying to download this song for years with absolutely no success . Here's hoping an R&B fan gets to this thread next .

I'll do two for the price of one Jimmy as for some reason I did not spot the Dobie Gray song listed last night .

The In-Crowd I know from Bryan Ferry and I've always loved his version . Dobie's original is completely different and I like it as well .

I knew the Sandy Posey song - but it was good to put a face to the song . LIke them both - slightly preferring Dobie Gray though .

Next : Boney M love for sale . I said a few weeks ago that this was my favourite Boney M song . Cole Porter classic given the disco treatment it so richly deserves .

Really really nice tune. Very clear and succinct bass line. Not one of their more commercial songs, but one of their better one's none the less.

I know this one as I bought it on vinyl along with the better known I shoulda loved ya . What I love about this song is the intro . Thereafter the song fails to lie up to the high expectations set by the first 20 seconds ... however it is still a dance classic - love it .

Time to slow things down .

One of the best ballads ever. This version is the best in my opinion. Joe Simon's version was good too, but Dorothy Moore nailed it - love it.

Not sure how many will have heard this as it didn't even chart in the UK - but I have always loved it.

Not one I am familiar with I must admit. But I do like it and given time could learn to love it. I am a fan of Squeeze. Very catchy!

Again, not sure if this will be known. I wore my vinyl 7" copy out.
