Number Porting from a temp PAYG Sim

I currently have my mobile number on an o2 PAYG Sim, but want to take advantage of a cashback deal for a 12month o2 Simplicity sim.

to do this, I am considering a temporary port of my number to an ASDA PAYG SIM, with a view to porting it back onto my new o2 Sim when I receive it.

How long will I need to keep my number on the ASDA SIM before I can port back to o2? Is there a minimum period?

I assume I will need to top this temporary SIM up, and assume ASDA allow the smallest top-ups of all the service providers?

I believe you can request to port away the day after you've ported in.

I've used Virgin Mobile a few times in the past for this trick

Virgin used to allow £5 top up's.... I don't think you do have to credit it to be honest, you should be able to port away straight away.

Is this the cashback deal from quidco? If it is then I believe you can order the new Simplicity contract via quidco, setup a new O2 online account when you place the order and when the cashback tracks go to http://www.o2.co.uk/keepmynumber and move your number and any credit over.

It may be safer to port out and back in, I believe the minimum top-up on ASDA is £5.

I'm waiting on my quidco cashback tracking, but I stupidly used my exisiting O2 account to place the order so I might not get it.

You got it. It's £100 on quidco at the moment, so this would take my £15pm to just under £7pm.

I think porting out is safer, but quite long-winded. Roll on 2011 for speedy porting.
