Powers
Just reread my entire collection to remind myself how good this is and that it's way overdue for a tv/movie adaptation.
Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim are two detectives whose cases involve the use/abuse of superpowers in a city where powers are technically illegal. Walker, a hero who lost his powers, has a lengthy and murky past, Pilgrim is a rock chick whose favourite interrogation technique requires a baseball bat. Violent, very funny and with a tendency to make you think the writer has just discovered bad language, it's worth a look just for the graphics.

I never read any of the Image books, always meant to, just never got around to it. Recently picked up a few of the Marvel Icon issues and felt pretty lost. Seems like I missed out on a lot of critical backstory.
