Bluray recorder returned

Had to return my bluray recorder today, the bw880, problems started a couple of weeks ago when I couldn't schedule recordings and to select a different drive I had to go through the menu, of course neither problem occured when I took it back to the shop. Today I noticed the lan connection wasn't working, so I rang the shop again and this time said I wanted it replaced which they did with out any problem. New one installed and updated with out problem. Hopefully this one will be trouble free.

I wouldn't have another panasonic; I bought the machine from QVC, the 850, and it did not always record, it was exceptionally slow at starting up, it would knock itself off and - this is not panasonic's fault - freesat is no better than freeview, in fact the opposite.
Now that I have contacted QVC re returning it, and have disconnected it from my set up, although I have replaced the wires correctly, this machine did stop my sky+ from timer recording.
Thank goodness I'm quite tecchie savvy; I managed to fix it myself!
I've only had one other pannie machine, a vcr, which was okay. But I wouldn't buy this brand again.
Hope you have better luck with your replacement machine.

Yes the replacement is behaving itself so far, I've had panasonics for many years, some have had problems and others have been fine. So here's hoping this one stays fine, although it came from a local shop si I can soon take it back.

Have you had any problems with this since? I purchased mine in October 2010 and took it back last Monday. The HDD totally screwed up, lost all recordings and settings and had to force eject the Bluray that was inside. Really hoping they dont fix it and offer me refund...

No, been problem free except for the not being able to set a timer which was fixed as it seemed to be a transmitter problem. Enjoy using them especially the usb/dvix feature.

I don't think that you'll find a tv based bluray recorder, only pc style, I must admit though that the bluray/dvd hd recorder is a lot more stable than the pvr based dual hd recorder, apart from the cost that is.
