BT box not picking up BT1 or BT2
Are these channels being broadcast on a lower strength frequency to everything else, my bt box is not picking either of them up, wheras the freeview tv in the other room is. I know that the reciever on the box is pretty rubbish compared to most other freeview recievers. But i'm just wondering if theres any point in me subscribing to the sports channels if i wont even be able to recieve them because of the poorly made vision box. Does the new black box have a better reciever in it or is that useless aswell?

Rubbish ?, useless ?, poorly made ?
You must have a different Vision box to everyone else |

But it doesn't pick up channels that other receivers in my house do, to me that means its rubbish.
To get round this problem, does anybody know whether the viewing card can be used in a seperate CAM inserted into another digital tv with an available cam slot (the aston CAM for example)? |

Have you tried swapping the boxes over in your house?
Maybe it's your cabling that's causing the problems. |

signal quality dependant if you ask me.
some days I can rescan and pick up channels which have ropey reception... in some bad weather conditions i scan and lose some. depends on your arial cabling to some extent like bob187 suggests. |

Thanks for the advice, i have a dtv which the vision box is plugged into, if i unplug the aerial from the vision box and plug it into the tv, the tv picks up all of the digital channels on its own inbuilt tuner, so it's not the aerial thats the problem, its the tuner in the vision box.

tried it with an amplifier ?
testing it elsewhere is worth trying to see if you can get it working... might not be what you want long term but short term might be worth testing out. |

The lack of BT sports channels might also be because they are not being broadcast from the relevant digital multiplexes so you will not be able to get them if that happens.
For example, the BT channels are now on the Wenvoe transmitter covering south east Wales but they are not present on the Mendip transmitter on the other side of the Severn Estuary. I should know as I've rescanned twice now. |

Your DTV only has one tuner - the Vision Box has two to feed from one signal. If your signal strength is marginal it will show up on the Vision box first.
It's your signal strength - get a booster or sort your cabling. |

It could be something else - make sure that the Vision box "Customise Channels" option isn't excluding channels 41 and 42 from the TV Guide. Mine was.
Also make sure that you're using the TV Guide button rather than the Fav button, because the Favourite channels list will not include these 2 channels unless you've specifically put them there. To help determine whether this is signal strength related these 2 channels are in MuxB for pre-DSO Com6 for post-DSO Does your Vision box receive any of the other channels in the same mux? |

Ah that mux is on low strength at winter hill till 2011, that explains it! my signal is marginal and obviously not strong enough to be split in two by the bt vision box.

Will the two channels be staying on (the lower powered @ winter hill) COM6 for the forseeable future?

If so you should pick up BT1 and 2 as they are on the same multiplex. Do a first time instal. Try another Freeview box. |
