Interference on my 9105

Hi,

Can anyone help with the following please ?

Recently i'm getting a lot of interference on my humax 9105 box, the interference is there when watching live tv and recorded programmes, if i unplug the rf lead from the ariel the interference goes ? i thought it may be a clash with frequencies but cant find anywhere in the menu to change the rf output to avoid a clash ?

I'm not sure what sort of interference you are referring to, or what you mean by unplugging the RF lead from the aerial, as this would stop the TV from receiving and should not affect the playback.

The 9150T doesn't have an RF output (i.e. modulator) so that couldn't be the problem.

What other equipment have you got connected?

Possible (if by unplugging rf cable clears issue) it is poorly shielded and by changing it for a better quality one may help.

Or with the changes in Freeview frequencies recently it has in some way enhanced a minor problem to one which is more noticeable.

Try swopping the RF lead with another first, or even re- routing it away from an electric lead may help.

Thanks for the replies....

I have a cable coming from the aerial wall socket straight to the humax box and a scart connecting the box to tv.

The best way to describe the interference is "noise bars" across the screen which are more noticeable if i were to press say the volume button on the humax remote ?

The interference is there on live tv or when watching a recording, however it does disappear if i remove the cable from the wall socket if watching a recording ?

I have had the box for about a year with no problems ?

I thought it had an rf outlet as on the back of the box there is a "TV/VCR" aerial out socket ?

That simply passes the aerial signal through to allow a TVs own tuner to be used; definitely no modulator.

I think this is crosstalk inside your scart lead.

If I am correct*, it can be eliminated by an expensive multi screened cable, or by breaking out pin 19 at the TV end of the cable.

(*If you are seeeing a sideways scrolling noise pattern. It will normally be a scrolling shadow of the picture which the TV is tuned to - which is why removing the aerial lead fixes it - the TV no longer outputs a picture)

Good fully screened SCART leads don't have to be expensive, the ones I use cost five quid. For information the fully screened leads tend to be much thicker and stiffer than the cheaper overall screened leads. Flat leads should also work well.
