Pro Logic and Home Cinema Advice
Ive just bought the sony HTK250 home theatre. I have a dolby pro logic phillips tv. The tv has a red and white av output. I plug in the audio cable from the tv and connect to the amp. When I set the amp to auto detect the sound it produces stereo Front left and right output. When im watching programmes that are broadcast in pro logic the rear speakers dont seem to work as per expected. Can the red and white audio outputs produce dolby pro logic to the amp or am i doing something wrong on the set up??? I have dolby pro logic selected on the tv and also select it on the amp.

Do you have a setting on the Sony called "AFD"?
If you do it will automatically select the right surround set up. In general there is not much surround sound on TV except the Simpsons and big movies. You need a DVD player to get it all cranked up in surround... |

Check your Philips TV manual. Since the TV is a Pro-logic set, it may already be decoding the pro-logic signal and the audio outputs you are connecting may only be providing the audio for the rear speakers.

In that case, I think you would get very little sound through the amp....
Normally ProLogic TVs have speaker outlets rather than amp outlets. |
