Bruce Forsyth says that he is close to finalising a return to Strictly Come Dancing.

That's another series I won't be watching then.

He's never left, and I take it you've never watched any of them?

Bruce is the best reason to watch the programme. What a legend!

Damn right - and the one and only reason for this is....

Bruce Forsyth.

In the papers he said he would not be doing a 'Bleakley' Shame I would like to see him bog off with Frank Lampard.

He's not quitting and he's willing to take a pay cut...good for Brucie....

Damn. I was hoping for Strictly without cringeworthy jokes, and Brucie is one huge cringeworthy jokes.

Bruce Forsyth is a national institution .

Long may he remain on our television screens.

There's no doubt that Bruce Forsyth is a well respected personality but his act is tired. He is like Arthur Askey was in his fading years: outdated and still repeating the same old catchphrases.

Remember Forsyth on the BBC's luvvie boat on election night? Plain embarrassing.

Brucie cannot need the money from Strictly, so he should give others a chance and retire.

You are so right, Mike. I've nothing against BF as such, though his cliche type of humour has never been my cup of tea, but he really is past his sell-by. [I never did work out what/why he was on the 'luvvie' boat on election night! ]

I think he would improve so much without those awful jokes, i'm not sure who writes them but if they went i think he might be ok. I can cope with the odd wrong name (Jelly pmsl!) but i can't bare the tap dancing or the jokes!

They should bring Play Your Cards Right and The Generation Game back with Bruce (Forsyth) returning as presenter of both.

I could live with that if it kept him off Strictly.

Love Bruce! But yeah 'Jelly Wallace' and 'Shirley Balley' was sooo funny!

If you look at the end credits, I think you'll find that he's one of the scriptwriters so he probably writes the most awful jokes himself.

I just wish the BBC would have the courage to get rid of him and bring in a professional presenter. It isn't the Bruce Forsyth show, much as he might like to think it is, and the show would go on without him!

Good for him! if he can still do it he should. Doesn't affect my enjoyment of the show; bad jokes or not it's still the best entertainment show on the whole of television.

Rats!!

I thought we might - just might have seen the last of him at the end of last series.

He (and his "jokes") is old, tired and well past it and should quit while he's ahead. He definitely is NOT worth what the BBC pay him for doing the show. His pay packet is a disgrace and a slap in the teeth to the pro dancers and the celeb contestants who work tremendously long hours to bring us the show.

I'm another who watches the show DESPITE Bruce and not because of him. To use one of his own tired, outworn catchphrases.....

"Get OFF!"

I'd agree with that - he can't tell jokes convincingly; he can't - and never could - dance well (though he likes to claim otherwise); he can't act; he can't sing (though like with dancing, he likes to claim he can!!) ..... so what exactly can he do?

Bruce Forsyth is a highly professional and hugely popular entertainer and presenter.

I am watching the Piers Morgan interview with Bruce Forsyth on ITV 3 as I write this (ITV 3 from 8 pm to 9.30 pm).

Bruce just pointed out in the interview that The Generation Game - a programme he presented - went from 6 million to 14 millions viewers.

Ah, but that doesn't mean he should be presenting prime time Saturday night TV 35 years later does it ?

The fact that he uses the same catchphrases and put downs in 2010 says it all really.

" I'll clear this place" ......... er, no you won't Brucie

Nice bloke, but should be enjoying retirement in his 80s, not insulting the likes of Jo Wood and Jelly Wallace.

Anyone watch him on Channel 4 Last night ? - didn't do himself any favours. I thought he was quite rude and arrogant. Despite the daily exercise routines and afternoon naps, it just made me think that it's definitely time for a younger Strictly presenter. Wilnelia must have the patience of a saint to put up with him.

So is Her Majesty the Queen, but we don't get her every Saturday night in winter.

If Bruce presents, no wonder so many of the celebs announced so far are well into their senior citizen years.

And is the legend going to continue to stamp out cockroaches this year? most undignified. Better call in Rentokill.
