08000728412 ... claiming to be Simply B asking for a Joanne Smith made to my elderly mum

She also says they have been calling her numerous times over the past couple of weeks - how do we stop them calling her ?? I`ve looked on internet and couldn`t get any sense there ... we signed her up for TPS ages ago so don`t know what else to do for her

It's apparently a collection agency on behalf of Simply Be/JD Williams. If you are registered with TPS, go to the TPS website and fill in one of their complaint forms. They will contact the company and remind them that you have your number registered with TPS. This SHOULD stop the calls although it may take a week or so.

Seems alot of money for a pensioner to pay out but if needs must think we`ll have to try it

It`s a shame no-one has come up with a phone to block certain numbers like one can do with a fax machine

I havent had one cold call since March worth it for peace of mind

I can't recommend this highly enough, it's put an end to all sales calls and the ability to record conversations solved a dispute with Virgin.
