Out Of Nowhere, The iPad Has A Real Competitor

I am not convinced, because I think people are buying iPad because it's another gadget from Apple, not because there's a need for a tablet. But then I said I did not need a book reader and now I can't live without it

It's not really a competitor for the sort of people who like the quality and ease of use of ipad. Will be fun for those who like to mess about with the software a bit. The dev community loves cheap hardware like this.

It's being pushed more as an ebook reader but is capable of more. Still it's a step in the right direction towards an affordable tablet. http://pandigital.net/pandigitalnovel

It is little different from the $99 Eken, apart from Android being 2.0 + an ebook skin rather than Android 1.6

I'm more or less the opposite. I think there is a need for a tablet, and Apple was the first to come up with a credible design. I'm hoping other people will be inspired to do even better.

I'm not sure this one qualifies, though.

I don't really get why people would want a device that could read ebooks and do virtually nothing else. I'd want it to browse the web and watch movies too.

Of course there is a need.

But there is far more a need for a netbook but that was crowded with better technology.
