This article says a full recall would do no good as the phone would need redesiged and take a year:

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...e-2027549.html
That's also very misleading.

There's no reason why the current design cannot be tweaked.

If Apple has been looking at a hardware fix, they would have been working on it non-stop for the last few weeks.

Misleading as the latest articles in Google suggest there's no recall tomorrow.

It's clear from many posts it's only broke for people who don't actually own the Iphone 4.

I'm no Apple fan but seems many are just looking to dig at Apple.
Hold on a moment, who are the people who OWN these phones and are complaining in droves about its very very poor signal, about having to be careful how you hold the phone, are they all people who in fact do not own the phone but are just stirring it up for Apple or in fact have Apple dropped a major bullox?

The phone is not working right, they need to get it sorted, its not some great conspiracy implemented by legions of Apple haters lol.

Maybe they could put a non conductive coating on the aerial.

I do not understand how tey didnt pick it up on testing! it seems really bizarre.

I do have the phone and I have had no problem with it, I hold it in my left hand and have never dropped a call. It is very strange.

On side note, I ship goods to Apple for use in there stores, the last shipment is lost in Milan somewhere! I have them screaming at me to fix the issue! I am so tempted to fire back a quip about the IP4.

It shouldn't have even got past the design stage.

Cost per laggy band bumper =66p according to that Telegraph article.
Or did that also include postage sending it to the customer?

Is that the one they're selling for £25?

I would think so and assume most of the cost is postage.

Te other part of this mystery is the white iPhone.
Now was it withheld because the problem is worse or better?
It is a reasonable bet that the delay in the white iPhone is related to the signal problem.

So we are all getting a free case?

I have no problems with reception but I will gladly take a free case from apple.

You mean you have not yet had course to see the problem.
Car, bus or train passengers using the phone on the move will no doubt suffer the most.

Surely Apple giving away a free case implies that the fault is actually a hardware fault and therefore the product is not fit for purpose? I must admit, I've not dropped a call on my IP4 (yet), but I don't want to use some rubber case - I hate them things!

It's a mobile phone, don't most people use it while on the move . I have one and I haven't had any problems with the signal while traveling. The only places it drops out are the same places all the phones i've had have lost signal, apart from my bedroom where surprisingly both iPhones have worked. Unlike all the phones I had before.

Well they could get round that quite easily by recalling them all, putting the bumpers on and saying "New Iphone4 with interchangable bumpers."

Admitedly I've only had the phone for a week and a half so I might not have had enough time to encounter problems. However I've used it at home (in all the rooms) at work and out and about outside and in the car. I haven't had any problems yet. So it seems to be acceptable for me at least. If I can use it in all these places with ease then I don't see it becoming a big problem for me.

I would say the White iPhone is linked to the signal problem, perhaps we'll here something on this and Apple may wont to put on some positive news rather than all the negative stories that have cropped up. Maybe an increase in supply aswell?

Well....the above is just my own wishlist really.

Hmm Jobs seems to be playing the "but other phones have problems too" card, I thought Apple were above that sort of thing.
