Agreed the format needs changing but what's wrong with a later Saturday night results show? It worked for 5 series.

I rarely watched the Sunday results show to be honest. I only did when the result was not 'leaked' somewhere and even then only if I could be bothered. It never worked for me. Then there were the constant complaints on several forums, including this one, if anyone who knew the result blabbed, even by mistake. Not good.

A live Sunday show wouldn't work either as dragging them all back in again would mean they'd be starting from cold and would have lost the momentum from the previous night and also it would use up extra valuble practice or rest time.

Best option that I can see is the original format with a later live Saturday results show and a highlights show on Sunday.

Doesn't DWTS do the main show on one night and the results the next night, without the momentum fading? I haven't watched it in a while but I seem to remember them doing that in the past, at least at the beginning of the series. If both shows are live, then I don't see why it can't work. It's when the Sunday show is pre-recorded that it doesn't really work. As another FM said, the reason the BBC didn't do the Sunday live is probably more to do with expense than anything else.

Even so the combined show was too much last year and i'd be surprised if it returned.

It works out well for DWTS, sometimes the results show actually draws higher ratings especially towards the end of the season.

As far as I can tell the problem with a live show on Sunday for SCD is that Len and Bruno are flying back and forth to the States. DWTS is on Monday with results on Tuesday so with an 11 hour flight, leaving on a Sunday night for a Monday night show would be cutting it really tight not to mention exhausting for both of them.

I wouldn't mind if Len and Bruno chose to concentrate on DWTS and drop out of SCD. Save them all that tiring travelling

Seriously, it probably is getting too much for them, especially Len - I'd imagine that's why he's been getting so irritable the last year or two.

It seems that their heart and soul is with SCD but the money is at DWTS.

Me too!! I didn't like the Sunday show to start with but having everything on the Saturday was way too much IMO.

I soon got used to the Sunday show and loved coming on here for the spoiler thread - it was good fun

Hiya Lizzie! Exactly!

I also prefer the Sunday results show. There is more time to include proper pro dances. Sometimes I deliberately looked at the spoilers but when I decided not to I found it quite easy to avoid any leakage of results by not going into DS forum.

I hated the Sunday shows previously because they were pre-recorded and it took away a key part of the excitement coupled with the fact that they tried to make out that the show was live when it blatantly wasn't.

It will work if they have a voting element as part of the results show, perhaps a dance-off with the bottom two with the public deciding who gets voted off.”

How on earth could they be live? That would mean the dancers working 7 day weeks, for some of them for 12 weeks in a row - that's not fair. Plus the pro dancers choreograph on a Sunday, and in the latter stage of competition Sunday is invaluable for rehearsals.

i don't mind a recorded Sunday results show, it's helpful for the pros to make the group dances as exciting as possible because they know they can have more than one take if they feel the first wasn't perfect.

I would prefer a live saturday results show though, then it's not all dragged out over the entire weekend and there's no problem with spoilers!

Strictly - according to many viewers - had become boring last year - that was the damaging factor. For me I thought it was one of the better series - dancewise - but it lacked the personality factor which is what a lot of viewers look for. Horses for courses, as they say (whoever "they" are!!).

As for X-factor, that surely belongs on kids tv about 5.00pm at the latest?

I agree actually. (Personally have never seen the attraction to X Factor.)

As for the Sunday results, I don't mind too much. Personally, I'd prefer a live Saturday results show that airs a few hours after the live show, like they used to do. Unfortunately, the XF clash has pretty much dampened it whatever they do. I can't see SCD winning back many (if any!) of the viewers they lost last series.

As far as I know all flights to LA leave in the morning or at lunchtime... so if they did do a Sunday night show (on a Sunday - how novel) then Len and Bruno would have to fly on the Monday morning and then only be there about 4 ish at the earliest... (and I think it might be later).

I have to admit, I quite like the Sunday results show as well. Admittedly I only started watching in series 5 so it's what I was always used to, which probably helps, but I just like having Strictly on every day of the week... Every Sunday last series I'd start thinking about Strictly come 6.30 when ITT was on on weekdays and then get disappointed when I realised I had to wait another 24hours for an episode. Sad but true! I don't watch TV much but the few series I do follow, I follow thoroughly!

On Saturday they have to fit in Merlin, Strictly main show, Casualty, the lottery and the news. This can potential leave the results show on very late - too late for its family audience. It got higher ratings on a Sunday than it generally did on a Saturday iirc.

They're using the excuse that it was too long last series to bring the Sunday show back, which is utter crap. They got it right in the second half of the series when they split the show back in two and had them BOTH on Saturday nights.

Nothing's official yet, but IF there is going to be a return to pre-recorded Sunday show, I won't be watching Strictly. For me, any tension and excitement that the Saturday show builds up is gone by Sunday.

Well the link that says Claudia's presenting it was quoted 2 posts above yours. It's only a widely-spread rumour at the minute, but more than likely to be true. Same with the Sunday results idea.
