Looking for mp3 player that remembers last positions

Hi,

I am looking for an mp3 player that can remember 'last listened' points over multiple folders. Sometimes I want to listen to music, other times listen to podcasts to do with my hobbies, other times podcasts to do with my work, other times audio books etc.

Each seperate area of listening in it's own folder. All I want is a device that can remember where i was last listening, across multiple folders. So if I stop listening to hobbies folder I can listen to another folder but come back to the exact point I was at with hobbies.

I know almost all devices do this for the track you are currently listening to but I don't know of anything that can do this across multiple folders.

Any help greatly appreciated.

When I have looked up ipod it doesn't make that clear. Does the ipod remember 'last listened' to points over multiple folders or playlists?

You can mark tracks as a compilation set the 'remember playback position' flag I think. It's useful for audiobooks or classical music with lots of 'movements'. You can also merge them if necessary. There is no real concept of folders on the iPod, except each type of media is kept in it's own section, although you can make as many playlists as you like. If you live near an Apple store it might be worth going and having a play with one. There are probably cheaper alternatives then the iPod, but I have no personal experience with them.
