What I was asking you is if you actually liked anything, anything at all, during RTD's Era. I mean, Four Seasons and loads of Specials and you appear from all your postings that you hated every minute of it. It's a lot of episodes to sit through gritting your teeth, surely?

Now I can really sympathise with the 'I'll watch this bad episode' and hope next week's is better' philosophy. I had it with Series 5. The difference is, despite not liking huge lumps of Series 5, I did try and put some positive things that I did like it about on this forum.

All I'm asking is, out of all those episodes, there must have been something you actually did like???

but the fact that you sort of liked Gridlock...and you have no idea exactly what parts of the episodes that you liked of the other stories are the ones that RTD had a huge part to play in...and like I said before...you admitted to liking Children of Earth...so you do like RTD's work...even if its occasionally...

Very occasionally, he writes a solid sci-fi script instead of a cross between a Barbara Cartland book and the Wizard of Oz. He should try it more often.

Ting, you can go on and on trying to deny RTD's input into those stories you mentioned. The fact remains, they are part of the RTD Era whether you like it or not. Every aspect of the production in those stories will have eventually had to bypass him at some stage even if his writing wasn't part of it. And as Crazzy has said, if you like Torchwood, you are in fact endorsing a RTD creation!!!!!!

Not only is it close in its imagery....but story wise the whole series could easily be just that..... And surely all the romance overdrive in series 5 is also very Cartland...as well as some cooking lessons!!! You do make me laugh Tony I have to admit!

Did he? I know the ending bit was changed and large bits taken out to fit it into the time allowed but I am not sure extensive editing counts as a re-write. Preferred the book ending. Especially Nurse staying with the Mr Smith's doppelgänger.

On the old Outpost Gallifrey forum, I distinctly remember you saying how much you enjoyed 'Partners In Crime', 'Fires Of Pompeii', 'Planet Of the Ood' and the Sontaran 2-parter in the rate threads.

Sticks in my mind because there were about 20 posts that followed asking if you were OK and needed a lie down...

The scarecrows were also RTD's idea...as well as the watch, which was intergral to the story...so there were many differences between the book and the episode....and we don't how much more were RTD's ideas....

I preferred Joan's ending in the episode....much more heartbreaking and real, not wanting to go wth the Doctor because his face was like John Smith...so staying with a doppelganger would have been the same....not John Smith really...
