The beatles the original boyband... will go down in history

The question is whos the best boyband since.

For me personally its a toss between Take That or Backstreet Boys

Anyone who thinks The Beatles were a boyband has been brainwashed by Pete Waterman/Simon Cowell & Louis Walsh.

The Beatles were a self contained unit whom played their own musical instruments and composed their own material. Not some manufactured act formed via auditions for singers and dancers by some pop svengali adding vocals to tracks already written and produced.

The Beatles despised acts who mimed, hence this legendary "performance" on Top Of The Pops back in 1965 mocking those type of acts:

The Beatles were not an effing boyband!!! Jesus christ.....

Anyway, I LOVE TAKE THAT. And I cried when their Robbie reunion was announced. Although, I think the contributing factor to my tears was the fact that I had just stubbed my toe as it was being announced.

Oh yes, definitely agree. "Her Ghost In the Fog" is a particular cheesy boyband croon classic. One of my favourites.

The Beatles? A boy band? Erm, they all played instruments. Boy bands generally don't. Get yer facts right.

I have always thought that The Beatles were a boyband to start with. My Aunty went to see them and she said they were rubbish but nobody seemed to notice because there were so many screaming females, early on I mean, later they got out of that I think. That is not to say that I don't like some of their early stuff - I do, but well, you know. Having said all that I am not a huge fan of The Beatles.

To me the best boybands are Westlife, NKOTB and NSYNC they are my favourite boybands and I don't care what people think about my taste.

i thought you were old?.. you like the 60's thread (that i started!), in which case you should know better.

the beatles were called a 'pop group', as were all bands of musicians in the 60's and 70's.

Beetles? A boy band. Don't make me laugh

This has to go alongside Cheryl cole being Annie lennox and Justin timberlake being like MJ and many more terrible statements.

no, its about sticking to the facts of the time...

fact... the term boyband did not exist in the 60's
fact... it was created 30 years later
fact....it was created to discribe a certain style of music sung by a certain style of artist.

I am sorry, I don't get you.

I think of The Beatles like a boy band because of the way they were at the start. Beatlemania and all that. The hype around them was equivalent to that of a boy-band these days.

but that isnt the qualification for being a boyband!

please tell me, how can they be a boyband when the term wasnt created until 30 years after they split up, and refers to a different style of music? they were a pop group!

People get so bogged down in semantics.

People nowadays would moan that Westlife shouldn't be called a band, (boy or otherwise) because they don't play instruments.

So what are they, a boy group? Or a pop band?

Ha?

And Justin Timberlake is God. Make another album Justin!!! 2 is not enough!

But they were boys in a band.

and over-rated in my opinion.
