so when did you get it how long did you have to wait ?

i'd suggest you install cydia if you want to use more than one app at a time that is until 4.0 comes out later this year.

I don't use messenger on the ipad i probably should though how about IM+ . But others might have better suggestions
I just rang currys and they'd had a delivery of stock, got it Tuesday morning.

Will multitasking reduce the battery life? Quite like the 10 hours.

What's the deal about bringing a US ipad into the UK. Will it work with itunes or is it geographically protected?

Just wondering if it's worth the grief.
I got mine in the US. it came with an AT&T sim, swapped that for a vodafone sim when I got home.
No geographical protection.

You don't * have* to multitask you know, only if you need to do certain processes like Skype or radio or something. It won't last forever! Skype seems to use very little on the iPhone 4 in the background.

My iPad was US and no problems whatsoever.

Get saving, but not for the ipad. Other companies are bringing out more advanced tablets that eat ipads, and all at a much more reasonable price.

Yeah, if you're lucky you might see a tegra 2 one next year with random software support and not what you actually seem to be after.

I thought this gadget couldn't "do" multitasking?

It multitasks native apple apps already, 3rd party Apis will be able to sometime in sept/oct, but it does it in a power-efficient way. Radio, music, IM, voip, that sort of thing.
