Bit confused by the builtin in eBook reader comments. My Desire came with a builtin PDF reader that I could use to read pdf ebooks and if I wanted to look at other formats, well, there is an app for that.
I was wondering if the Opera e-book widget also works on Opera mobile?

The addition of 720p would be good but only if its 30fps and relatively judder free.

Not sure if I see the point of ebooks on a LCD/LED screen it's just not that comfortable and the battery life drains fast. i'm not gonna throw away my Sony Reader which is far superior for reading books and not that expensive.

Lol, what is the point having HD 720 on a phone?

Are the people that are concerned about this, the same people that bleat on about "it's not worth having 1080p on a 32" TV" ? lol

HD video on a phone is a very nice feature for some, I know the iPhone 4 takes fantastic HD video which rivals devices like Flip HD.

I think once you go over 5MP the benefit on a phone is minimal due to the small optics and this is something I have always said when 8MP phones started coming out but 720p HD is only about 1MP.

Much the same as having HD on a camcorder, even though they also have tiny screens.... the video can be viewed elsewhere, dontcheknow

Not at the moment, however it's a leak and the final spec could be quite different. Having said that, the Desire is one of the best phones on the market currently, they may just be improving on that for new customers.

Not a chance, the Desire is an extremely popular phone the value won't plummet like that.

2.2 is coming to the Desire before Christmas 2010, straight from the mouth of HTC themselves, so this shouldn't affect it.

No reason why the Desire shouldn't do the same if you were to sell it in a few months for the next model of HTC. In fact I'd expect it to reach more than £130 being a newer and better handset.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Well a G1 android phone on envirofone.com is 47 quid compared to the older iPhone 3G's £130, so i guess we can see there.

I can get £73 for my old N95 8GB on that site, even more from others, so your argument doesn't convince me.
(tempting, except mine is broken, so it's not worth sending it in for the pittance they give)

The vastly inflated prices that iPhones sell for brand new from Apple also don't help.

Ah, fair point!

But to view on the phone seems a tad ridiculous to me.

However the HTC Desire is more popular than the G1 and more feature filled. I think you'll be surprised how many people will still want HTC Desires. There will be a market for them, paying decent money, even if a new one comes out in October.

I really hope they go ahead with this, my dad has a HTC Desire so i've played with that a lot and it is the best phone on the market at the moment. This would give it some good features but i would only buy it if it comes with 3.0 rather than 2.2. Of course that whole thing about google having different software for the best phones is also a rumour. hopefully its true though.

The thing is there's also a rumour that's got more validity going around about the new HTC Vision which is basically a HTC Desire with a physical keyboard. Thats looking very possible at the moment.

Photo of it here.

Weird how the phone you know so often happens to be 'the best on the market'.

Looking very likely HTC will release 2 more new phones before the end of the year.

HTC Ace is real and will be released as HTC Desire HD and the HTC Vision (HTC Desire with QWERTY?) will be released as HTC Desire Z. I'm guessing an October release could be likely.

More can be read here:

What do folk think?

I'd love a Desire with a proper keyboard. If the image with that article is to be believed it can also be nailed to your thumb.

More confirmation of the HTC Desire HD aka HTC Ace with pic. Not confirmed but it's certainly out there for the world to see.

Considering most get their Android phone free, even there that is £47 profit versus how much loss?

Some Apple owners seem to treat their phones as investments, rather than as phones. I guess they have do since their phones are so expensive.

The rest of us couldn't care about what the likes of envirophone will offer (which is always going to be well below its true value) - we'll just get another free phone on contract and be done with it.

The thing with the iphone is it holds its value, tha'ts why those websites have to offer a lot because if they stick the thing on ebay they can still get £300 out of it. Which is astonishing. I've alos found out that you can buy a new iphone 4 16GB on contract for £499 and the same phone is going on ebay for upwards of £600. What the hell?

Anyway didnt come here to post that, looks like this phone will be the EVO for Europe, with less features. Still good enough for me and will be a top end phone. The only thing i dont like are the buttons under the screen. The ones on the EVO are rubbish and i hate phones that have them as touch buttons like the Nexus one or other HTC's. It would be brilliant if they could use solid buttons like the desire. Should make the phone look better too rather than something that is all black. maybe a light grey or something. Doubt it ill happen but that optical mouse is brilliant too.

More news on HTC Desire HD aka HTC Ace and HTC Desire Z aka HTC Vision.

Apparently they're coming to T-Mobile in September, on the 22nd and 29th respectively. One released on each date.

The HTC Desire HD on T-Mobile will be renamed as the MyTouchHD and HTC Vision Z will be renamed as the G1Blaze.

Not really keen on T-Mobile getting hands on them and rebranding them.
