No EPG On SVR-S500 PVR

Just so that this problem shows in the dedicated Sony thread, please see picture of the SVR-S500 http://i31.tinypic.com/8y6rf8.jpg
It definitely shows the "Digital Tick" of conformity. The EPG info is not created from the standard Freeview data. Instead it uses/used the data from 4TV/Inview, (channel 300), which is no longer supplying the data to a variety of set-top boxes. If your box is affected by this, please sign the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/4tvepg/petition.html

SVR-S500 users may find this thread concerning Digifusion recorders (which used the same now absent "4TV" EPG source) illuminating.

Looks like Sony are offereing out £100 discounts to S500 owners to buy a newer box. Doesn't sound like that makes them any cheaper than a good internet deal. it also makes it pretty unlikely that Sony will be footing the bill to revive 4TV.
