Sue Cleaver : All of us Corrie fans should get together and ensure she gets an award!
I was posting in another thread about Sue's great performances and I said that Jessie Wallace and Suranne Jones seem to pick up the awards all the time. I think Jessie and Suranne are great but both of them being tabloid stars help them win these 'public vote' awards. Sue always seems to miss out - I don't even think she was nominated for the British Soap Awards!
I think the next public awards is the National Television Awards and I think we should all make sure we vote for Sue. Everyone from the Todd thread and other Corrie fans here - we should all vote together and give Sue a chance of being rewarded. If a lot of the people in the Todd thread can get a lot of signatures to try and keep Karl in the soap, we should all vote for Sue. And while we are at it, let's all vote for Bruno too. It's up to us, so who is with me!

Yeah, Sue is great.. but there's no way she'll ever win anything unless she gets a more central role in a storyline. At the moment she's totally underused. When you mention corrie characters how many people would instantly think of Eileen Grimshaw? Karen McDonald and Kat Slater are bigger names and will always unfortunately be overrated due their constant existence in the limelight. Although neither are bad actresses, it's still unjust that others are so underappreciated, while they monopolise the soap awards..

Suranne is an ok actress but she's not what the best actress on Corrie by a long shot. A lot of her appeal comes from her double-act with Simon Gregson (Steve) & both characters would be poorer if they were to be split up (which they will be when Suranne leaves).
Suranne isn't even in the "top league" of acting talent on the Street. As far as actresses go, Sue Nicholls (Audrey), Helen Worth (Gail), Julie Hesmodhalgh (Hayley), Maggie Jones (Blanche), Barbara Knox (Rita) and the Goddess that is Sue Cleaver can act rings around Suranne and the others. Most of the time, it's all about how 'high profile' the character is & what big storylines they've been involved with throughout the year. I fear that Sue won't win anything until the Corrie writers see the light & give her a big story to get her teeth into

I suspect she will eventually rent the house off Blanche when Baldin Jnr moves somewhere better,
. No matter how giood she is, and she is very good, she has no chance against the more 'glam actresses' |

The house is being sold by Steve and Karen, but as a sale with a sitting tenant. Eileen has to stay in the house for the sale to go through.
When Eileen finds out she isn't happy, but Steve has to do everything he can to stop her moving out!! Will x |

Oh, and bloody hell Yes! She does deserve those awards!!
I saw TGSG on Living last week and the point was made that she hasn't had chance to show off her skills up till now. But she's got them alright! Will x |

As for Sue, she is in my top 3 fave actors in Corrie; she needs more to do though. She has never had any REALLY big storylines. |

Yes, I said somewhere in another thread that she is under-rated. I think she's very comical too. I love the way Eileen has dealt with the Todd thing too, the character really didn't mind one bit that Todd has said he is gay.
So, how do we get her an award??? Are there any places that you can vote as the viewing public? Someone mentioned the T V Quick awards in the 'Todd' thread didn't they? Isn't that an online vote? |

Maybe Suranne didn't deserve the award but at least it didn't go to someone from Eastenders!

This woman has been in show biz since age 4 or 5,and acted in many British films post war. All she ever gets to talk about is hot pots and stupid stuff about "Her Billy"...writers take note PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! give this great actress a storyline (a proper one)to get stuck into. FWIW I also think Sue C is a brilliant actress and her Todd coming out scenes were tour de force..Goddess? Definitely. PIV |

shes a great actress, and she does deserve awards, but it seems to be the same people nominated every year. and many other characters/ actresses never get the chance.

if sue doesn't win an award for her role during todds story this year i will be baffled (and a tiny bit outraged but if she doesn't even get nominated - well then i will just have to give up on awards completely - after deadenders beat corrie this year my opinion of the awards went somewhat downhill - bit i will disspair at next years if corrie don't get recognition for this story - it has been the best soap story i have seen - what with the great acting and scripts it has been great to watch (well most of the time - where's karl!?) - eastenders has become a bore and corrie has gone from stength to strength - it is not only sue who needs recognition and i hope they get it! |

I think that it's Tina O'Brien who deserves to win any future best soap actress awards and not Sue Cleaver. Tina's acting in this storyline has been top notch, especially through all the emotional scenes. Why should she lose out?

i agree - she too has been fantastic - i think that in general this story and its actors/characters deserve all the recognition and praise that they get - if deadenders get best soap over corrie then something has gone seriously wrong - they are having such a bad year - even shane richies story is making me want to switch off - and it is normally him that keeps me interested |
