Panasonic and Humax Foxsat HDR
I've located a fabulous deal on a Panasonic (TX-P42S20B) television, but recall there is a glitch between Panasonic and the Humax Freesat PVR; with the Foxsat being able to switch channels when booting to record.
Now, its been some time since I read about this - has it been fixed by either party? |

Not sure if it's been fixed but if you just put the HDR into HDMI 2 on your TV then it won't auto switch so you'll be fine.

Got my Humax Foxsat HDR into HDMI1 on my Panny LCD, the screen does go black for a few seconds when the Foxsat wakes up to record.
But don't really find it a problem as unless it's the kids watching Cbeebies on Freeview then the Foxsat is on anyway due to the rubbish Freeview signal I get! |

Can you briefly describe the problem - I can't exactly recall it, just the general premise of the problem.

Basically if you're watching Freeview, or a different input while the Foxsat HDR wakes up 15 minutes before it's due to start recording, the TV will switch to HDMI 1 for a few seconds with a black screen, then return to what you were originally watching.

Not sure whether this is a Panasonic only problem or not. I have Panasonic Freesat TV and a Humax Freesat box and this does happen to me, it is a little annoying but no more than that. I use a switch box to connect several HDMI sources to the HDMI1 input and all do the same when powered on which is a documented feature of the TV i.e. anything connected to HDMI1 will switch the TV to that input when powered on. At least with the Humax it is only temporary as it wakes up whereas with other devices you will have to manually switch back to the input you were watching.

I've got a Samsung LED TV which does not auto sense and the Foxsat will not switch it at all. Other boxes whch support CEC will switch when they do something interesting (Menu, Play, titel list, etc) but not when just powered up.
It is naff that the Foxsat does not support CEC. |

Panasonic Fressat HDR upscales everything (SD, HD, Menus, Inputs) to 1080p & pictures are allways clearest
if you specify this option. Maybe the new Humax will do the same? Could you explain what CEC is? |
