I have heard today by someone on mtve's forum that mtv polska who now operate mtv europe are to axe partyzone, alternative nation, superock, chillout zone, headbangers ball and mtv top 10, to make way for more repeats of reality programs, These are long time mtve shows, like partyzone that have been running since 1987. I really cant believe this as i loved these shows since the 90's, but they went down hill since its move to poland a couple of years ago. It just shows how bad mtv is going, I hope they loose loads of viewers because of this. They are a joke.

It may just be a rumour but if they were to replace the music stuff with reality shows, it's only because unfortunately, these shows attract more viewers than music videos do hence why MTV UK and all the local MTV channels worldwide show reality imports 99% of the time.

I wonder what the viewing figures for MTV Europe are, since many regions have their own division of MTV and people are turning away from TV and on to t'internet for music videos (which is probably why MTV choose to create/buy cheap reality shows).

This is true most european countries only have mtv europe/vh-1 europe and dont have mtv dance/base/hits, so this is bad for them countries.

MTV Dance, Hits, Base and Rocks are not available in every europe country. not to talk about the other channels you posted like NatGeoMusic, c-music etc...but MTV Euro can only be for countries like bulgaria, estonia, latvia, lithuania, maybe cyprus, malta, moldova...these countries doesnt have an interesting music market for shows like partyzone, headbangers ball etc. the other european countries have their own local version and playing music, apart from MTV UK...

You only seem to care about WHERE the music is produced, but it's not relevant in this case.

The point about MTV European's Party Zone was that it got stuck in its ways about 1 year and a half ago. They've been playing pretty much the same 30 videos every week for something like 18 months. Who cares whether it's US, UK or European stuff! The way they neglected the show throughout all this time is ridiculous in the first place! And now, after a whopping 23 years on air, they're dropping it.
Ta-daaah.

Moving the "pan-European" channels to Warsaw and leaving them in the hands of a bunch of incompetents was one of the biggest mistakes ever done by MTV.

Not true.

That's partly true. The channels you mentioned are indeed available almost all over Europe and beyond, but only to subscribers of full/premium digital cable or IPTV packages, most definitely not to all those households that still get basic cable channels (where 'the music section' consists of their local MTV + VH1 European and that's it).

This is what i think mtvne should do for music lovers and reality tv lovers.
Mtv europe should be made available accross all of europe again with regional ads for each country
Mtv shows should be broadcasted along side mtv europe showing reality crap with regional subtittles and/or audio for each country.
Mtv dance/hits/base/rock axed and all its money and effort be put back into mtv europe, as these channels are a complete waste. This way they get both viewers instead of just people watching reality, more viewers.

No way! This is exactly the reason why they launched ddifferent local versions and removed the pan-european version. Now they are able to show regional ads, and become attractive to sponsors by playing local music.

By the way, in Europe, MTV European is officially available in Malta, Albania, Bulgaria, and maybe Azerbaijan and Moldova, plus the three Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), since their local MTV versions went bankrupt.

No, that's totally outdated!!! It refers to 2004-6.
Just take a look at channels in the UK, they are displaying very very old logos, and the situation is wrong for almost all countries.
Another example, MTV Base is now only available in the UK & ireland since it has been replaced by MTV Dance in the rest of Europe in 2007, where it was not previously available.
And, as I just said, the Baltic versions stopped last year.
Serbia and Montenegro doesn't even exist as a single country anymore.

MTV wants the European channels to make more money, so they are starting to show more programmes (which are easier to sell ads into, and which people stay watching because unlike an hour of music videos, viewers are less likely to turn over half way through). It's all about revenue, nothing else.

Ye ok, I sometimes find it hard to sit and watch music video after video , unless they are good ones, but in the past mtv was'nt just about back to back videos, it was also about live shows, vj's travelling europe interviewing the stars, festivels, night clubs. and loads more. I think since they started giving each country there own mtv, people slowly stopped watching because of the changes made to the new regional mtv, they missed good old mtve. There are so many people around europe who would much rather mtv europe of the 90's or early 2000's than the version they have now. Look at all the viewers they lost and are about to loose, ye they got a new generation of viewers, but how long will it last. If mtvne done what i mentioned above in my last post it would atract all its older viewers and maybe some new ones too.
