The Long Road Back

Does anyone have Peter's new album? I do and think its great, i think he's a great songwriter contrary to popular opinion and my mate thats not really into pop music said she was impressed and suprised because she really liked it... i think alot of the songs on the album are katie orientated... because like peter said recently in an interveiw, he wrote about his feeling when he came out of the jungle... i especially like what is love, untouchable, the right way, and you got me thinking but all the songs are great and i was impressed by how much peters voice had matured sice the last time round, i think he's a great singer anyway so...

yeah, i have got it too, and think its a great album. i keep changing my mind on what is my favs. im not sure if any of these ones were written since the jungle becuase he said he had around 80 songs already written and it hasnt been that long since he came out.
some of the songs are very apt, for him and katie tho. I did read somewhere not sure where that he said that although he hasnt specifically written a song about her, some of the words in some of the tracks are very appropriate. untouchable was the song he sang part of by the bonfire the night after katie got evicted when he was all sad and down. i was really pleased to hear it on the album, as i liked the words when i heard him do it in the jungle. what is love and all cried out are also my favourites, but i'll probably change my mind again on the next listen!! lol

He got bumped up a bit further last week with his exposure on Hells Kitchen and Jordan's presence there. He won't get the same luck with the album this week, he'll have to rely on his talent alone.

Still, most of this album is only co-written so it's no surprise that it's going to bomb.
The next album should be more successful when he dispenses with the co-writer and delves into the catalogue of 100 songs he mentioned he'd written, while in the jungle.

you just knew i was gonna come back at you on this didnt you bystander
The Long Road Back’ features seven tracks co-written by Andre himself as well as two versions of his recent comeback hit ‘Mysterious Girl’ (original and 2004 version) and is a work of pop genius. Every track oozes quality hopefully giving Peter the lift he needs to continue chart-bothering for many years to come. (taken from HMV)

he always has co-writes as he doesnt do the music - just the lyrics. im sure some of what is on the album is material written prior to the jungle - he sang untouchable, the night after katie left the jungle, when he ws sitting by the camp fire alone and sad.

Know the truth will always be
That nobody can love you like me
You can find someone who promise to
Fill your heart with dreams
But you know nobody can love you like me'

I've got the album and it is absolutely fanastic, i love 'All time girl' that all the papers are saying Pete wrote for Katie, and I love 'Untouchable', they are both my favourites and i love the rest of the album too, the lyrics in Untouchable are so beautiful, but thanx debs i didn't know Pete had written that the day after Katie left the jungle!!! They are so perfect together, what would have happened if they hadn't gone intothe jungle????? Would they have ever met????? i'M SO GLAD THEY DID, and they should be together forever and get married and have loads of babies! awwww

i dont know if he wrote it in the jungle - all i know is that in the evening after she went he was sitting by the bonfire, alone, not talking and he started singing. I loved the words and thought they were very appropriate for him at the time - it was just the opening 6-7 lines he sang.
Then when i heard the album i instantly recognised it. Lovely song.

It didn't even make the top 40.

Insania plummeted to #13 which means a huge amount of the promotion budget must have been used to get it to #3 last week, which will be deductible from Peter's earnings no doubt.

He can always join one of those Oldies tours around the seaside resorts along with the likes of Kim Wilde etc.

Ok dw, I'm going to be brave and make a prediction, giving you a chance of having the last laugh.

I predict, it will never make the top 40.

I'm disappointed it didn't do better, particularly as its a good album. There are about 5 songs on it that are really good. Unfortunately, it got rotten reviews and no radio play. The only reasonable review I've seen of it is on the amazon.co.uk site where some bloke has reviewed each song. I mightn't agree with everything he says, but its a fair review overall.

Unfortunately most people who make these decisions are blokes and they seem to have very different standards when reviewing the work of sexy, good looking girls v blokes. Which is why Britney and Girls Aloud, for instance, gets better reviews than they deserve and Peter doesn't. And don't even start me off on that horrible cow Jamelia!

Since these blokes are being paid for what they do I really wish they'd be a bit more professional. That w**ker Joe Nott or whatever his name is in the Star is a prime example.

Oh and bystander, what promotion budget are you referring to? The only promotion I've seen is what Peter got himself, or Katie got for him. I don't see how it would have cost his record company anything. If I was them, I'd think I'd got myself a real bargain.

his official position in this weeks album chart is no 44 which i accept is some
what disappointing. the radio 1 playlists seem to be dominated by the
american r&b hiphop and whatever type of bands and this is reflected
in the charts at the moment. its not just peter who as suffered from very little airplay, there is also mark owen who came in at no 30 in the singles chart and matt goss as a single coming out in about 2 weeks
and he's not playlisted and i suppose britney will be no 1 on sunday just to rub it in but, my 15year old son & my 17year old daughter are part of the record buying public and eminem 50cents britney kelis
anastacia and others like them is the stuff they buy. they did buy
mysterious girl but wont be buying insania or the long road back.
thats my children for ya, but i dont mind them booming anastacia right
through the house she is a classy girl, with classy music.

Hmm! I might be on shaky ground then, predicting it wont make top 40. As dw said, once the tour starts sales should pick up, although the hard core fans will have already bought the album and might only buy the Tee shirt.

When a single plummets 10 places the following week of it's entry it's very obvious that the initial entry had a lot of help getting there. That's the promotion budget I'm talking about Darling. The wheeling and dealing budget.

I hate to insult you bystander but It's got to be said.

What utter cobblers!

Peter's song hasn't had any radio play at all and that has affected its sales.

Not quite as interesting as "wheeling and dealing" or other conspiracy theories, but there it is.

even when it entered the charts at no 3 as second highest new entry it wasnt on any of radio ones playlists....its disgusting really! Surely a song that is in the charts warrants airplay?
Seems like i have a few emails of complaint to send out!!

i dont know how they decide who should be on the play lists but they are very unfair, and have been for a very longtime, but i understand they are to be scrapped and a new format put in place.
i see that jordan is going to be in allistair mcgowans big impressions
see skynews website.

That's ok darling, you're not the first to insult me.

It's not always radio play that affects sales figures. It's generally accepted (not a theory) that when a new entry plunges so rapidly the following week, sales figures have quite probably been manipulated, not necessarily illegally.

Or it could simply be that because the release date was well publicised and people had already decided to buy it, some while IACGMOOH was still on, they didn't wait and all bought it in its first week hoping to get him another number one.

another reason why peters album isnt doing well is that the record shops arent helping it in any way. there have been several reports of HMV and VIRGIN (named and shamed! ) not even having it on their shelves, and being seen dumped on the floor behind the desks, so the general browsing public wouldnt even know that it was out. It is disgusting how some radio stations, record shops etc, influence sales with their own prejudices against certain artists.
I am sure that Peter isn't the only one who has ever had to put up with this treatment either.
