1.1 metre dish - will it improve reception?
I am about to upgrade to a 1.1 metre dish. I have had a 90 cm for over 10 years which has served me well. I was able to pick a good number of sat from 28 east to 43 west. However there were some with weak signals? How will my new size dish help?

To be honest..I doubt you'll notice any difference. Most of the saltellites are now powerful enough for good reception on 90cm dishes...about the only borderline ones are some of the beam on 5 east and 1 West...but you are going to be outside the footprint of those with a 1.1 dish too.
Is the LNB 10 years old too? If it is, swap that for a newer one- I've got a .3db one now and I find the weather has to get REALLY bad before I lose signal and I'm only running a 90cm dish in Manchester! Providing your dish is still in good shape, isn't full of dents or anything, and is correctly aligned, then you could be wasting your money. |
